Walmart it is, then! A few more dollars for the old devil.

I still like having a boxed copy of games to remember all of my bad mmo purchases.

@Tizmah The Walmarts and Targets of my area have incredibly good PC sections compared to the Gamestops, some of which don't carry PC games.

I decided to support Trion by purchasing the digital collectors edition directly from them and sign up for a 6 month founders pricing plan.

I don't care too much about an extra pet, but I wouldn't mind something exclusive for supporting the company directly.

@drakon

Pretty much exactly my thoughts, I get that they're marketing to other retailers as well but I wouldn't mind a nod for buying from them directly.

That being said none of the extras from any other sellers has really made me go, "Damn I should have ordered from them!"

@drakon exactly my thoughts. I vented this on the forums but no response...

@drakon To be fair, you do get a Shrouded Sourcestone Rune (which makes your melee weapons glow purple and gives you death resist) if you preorder from Trion. But it's not WAY different than the Runes you get from preordering from others: http://www.riftgame.com/en/products/exclusives.php

@Trojan

From my understanding the rune you get by preordering from Trion is the same thing (only a different variety) as preordering from the other stores. Unless I'm mistaken somehow?

@drakon

you are getting something extra with the digital from Trion directly, more $$$ in their pockets directly (although it is likely not a huge cost savings to them).

The reason retailers / retail boxes gets "exclusives" is to entice them the actually stock the game on the shelves. why should they give up the shelf space if that game is not going to bring people to them for additional sales?

An up and coming MMO that's not relying on shitty gimmicks (FFA PVP, permadeath) or a shady F2P system (Allods)?

That's almost novel nowadays.

@wjowski

Oh, I get it, because the (shitty?) game IS relying on a shitty pet gimmick.

@wjowski

uhh this is exactly what aion did. Coincidently it has the same guy in charge of community management and production.

A staggered release with 10 different "betas" that tested/changed very little with a bunch of gimmicky promotions across different retailers is exactly how aion launched.

I expect the producer to jump ship and move to another game a few months after launch just like he did when he released aion. I can't believe you people would be tricked twice by the same guy.

This is good. Now I'll know which players support low wage jobs that require people to get on public assistance to make it above the poverty level.

/sigh

So much for the "not in Azeroth" hype.

Can't wait for them to ride the backs of charities with pets like Blizzard did.

It's been said before, it'll be said again.

Only gamers would complain about incentives for giving to -charity-.
