As the video opens, we see Luthor and an unknown character, Fracture, fleeing through the Fortress of Solitude in the wake of Brainiac's world-shattering attack. Their mission, and the ultimate backstory behind Luthor's plan to change the course of history, is given a satisfying and energizing twist over the course of the trailer. DC Universe Online fans would do well to watch the movie just after the break, to get a closer look at the developing backstory behind the game's premise.

It was always an interesting point for fans that the instigator of DC Universe Online's boom in superhumans was Lex Luthor from an alternate future timeline. After all, Luthor has always been portrayed as one of the most ardent villains in the IP, a scheming and calculating figure, someone whose actions are always made with his benefit as the end goal. The newest cinematic trailer for the game addresses precisely that fact, and it does so with a style and energy that's admirable.

Even though I don't like the gameplay and the UI, I absolutely love these videos. They need to keep releasing these. Make it a series.

Wow, that totally puts the original video into perspective.
Wow, so there isn't really a good side to the incident and who knows when or if the millions of "lab rats" in the regular time period (/universe for those who argue) will run into unexpected problems.
I don't think we've seen the last of the Batman from Lex's time/universe. He'd be a pretty interesting boss, and then comrade...
Interesting...
Go DCUO!
p.s. I'm surprised Massively hasn't made a post about DCUO's special time 3-month offer that I got an e-mail about and quickly swapped over to. $29.99 every three months. That's $10 a month. Sweet!

I am curious...is this a sign that they're planning to advance the story with the game as well? This would make the game interesting and dynamic in it's own way...instead of static, like many games are barring their expansions.

Awesomeness present:
1. Batman all messed up from the Joker shooting him with that missle and Deathstroke wailing on him with a sword; still survived to the end. One. Tough. Mutha.
2. The fact they used the Fortress of Solitude. Ironic given that Lex had stuck his spear into Superman's back and Batman probably didn't know about it because he was probably unconcious from the Joker's missile.
3. Lex Luthor stepping on that guy's chest on his way into the teleporter. His villiany street cred just went up several notches and now almost catches the Joker.
Btw: ignore the trolls. The game is pretty good fun. At 10/month soon, you really can't beat that with anything cheaper right now for action.

@real65rcncom
you could go as far as saying that Lex Luthor has no intentions of "saving" the world, and while he understands the threat that Brainiac posed, he was more interested in gaining an advantage over the League AND Brainiac, than go with his current time-line.
He also seemed to have orchestrated a good chunk of what was happening, seeing as the two Luthors seemed... well acquainted. So far as even testing the little buggers that give super powers (can't remember the name).
What that then could suggest, is that he's planning on using them for an army, after seeing what kind of negative side effects come from their use.
Joker is just chaotic evil, pure anarchy.
Lex Luthor though? He's got this sh** planned down! That's a whole different kind of evil. Even the League is trusting him, albeit slightly.

@real65rcncom Just because not everyone loves DCUO, that doesn't make them "trolls". Admittedly, this probably isn't the best place for pooping on the game.
Awesome video.
