I don't care about the lore in this game but there's something else to mention. The exalted high priestess of the high elves wears a bikini. Similarly, as female player characters progress up the levels their armor (particularly plate armor, oddly) becomes skimpier. It's laughable how much Rift panders to lonely boys who need to see/control female characters with very little clothing. Rift is a conglomeration of good ideas from every other game out there, but they didn't need to reinforce the stereotype of male gamers as pathetic sex-starved social rejects.

@shiningfury

I have a fiance and I still enjoy skimpy pixels. Nothing wrong with that, I'm far from lonely... it's pandering to humanity really. My fiance looks at porn as much as (if not more than) I do, so really, saying it's pandering to lonely boys is showing how little you understand women.

Maybe it's you who is part of the lonely boy club.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been impressed at how most of my armor so far has looked like something someone would actually wear into battle.

@sortius

I'm a woman, I like to look at women, and I'm pretty fond of porn, but I really dislike not having the option in most games to decide whether or not it suits my individual character to run around in a crop top, steel knickers, and high heeled boots when those are the best options stat-wise. At least RIFT is better about it than many, many games, but Shyla's "armor" isn't even flattering. It just looks ridiculous.

I like the character models (in these pics at least) but frigging they look so dead behind the eyes, I wish Dev's paid more attention to facial animation like Valve does. Rockstar only started paying attention in LA Noire and it shows, I still think TF2 just blows me away how Valve were so far ahead. It just stands how to be now when I see eyes like that... get it sorted!

Though I agree with I don't care about the lore in the game, the world and graphics feels very generic that why would anyone care? Just hope for good gameplay really, though from what I played of the beta it feels like a WAR/WoW clone and without interesting lore why would anyone play? I just couldn't see why this would do any better than all the MMOs that failed since WoW, it doesn't play better than WoW and it doesn't have the amazing Warcraft lore and I'm fucking sick of WoW lol...

No beta keys? I need to grab another one for my brother's account and yes I went through all the keys in the previous posts and couldn't find one that was still active. Anyone want to help a brother out?

That armor would not be very protective.

I chuckle when fanboys blast Tera for its skimpy armor design, then give Rift a free pass.

@Jade Effect Ahh....Just wait, all those people who say "What? Nothing wrong with it" with Rift will be QQing at Tera's next article.

TERA catches flak not only for the skimpy armor, but for the ridiculous jiggle physics and gratuitous hip-gyrating, chest-heaving battle animations. RIFT is by no means innocent of fanservice, but Trion can keep some points for not attempting to sexualize every possible aspect of their female character models.

@Irem I never said anything about the physics or the animations (which are better than Rift's anyway) but for the QQing of the sexualization of females, one has little to do with the other even if people tend to whine for both. Trion manages very well to sexualize all possible parts of the female and is as guilty of doing it (I suppose you haven't seen the cheeky armor thread in the Rift forums).

I was about to say that too and besides the characters faces in Tera has more expression on them but I do like RIFT more than TERA.

At least when a player is casting a spell in Rift, they're not humping their stave or wiggling their mons venus at the camera.

My especial favorite is the casting animation where the horned female race does this move like she's twirling a hula hoop while attempting to knock herself out with her ridiculously over-the-top jiggle physics'd knockers.

Did I mention that she's doing this while seemingly wearing a pair of black silk panties, two large pasties and some bizarre plated metal mesh hose?

Wake me when Rift gets that bad and maybe we can talk about it.

If your point is that this armor is every bit as stupid as the many ridiculous armors I've seen for TERA, I agree with you. Still and all, I think the armors are generally better overall in Rift than those I've seen for TERA. In fact, this is first (and the worst) example of pure nonsense in Rift that I've seen thus far. It's disappointing, but oh well.

Perhaps Shyla has some kind of "stun" ability, allowing her to skewer her enemies while they simply gawk at her. ;)

I rather liked it. Aedraxis, as I had gathered from playing, is batshit insane, and while I was put off a bit by the Guardians ingame, Shyla's story makes me want to go back for another look.

What I really want to hear about is Asha and Zareph's relationship. >_> Dumb quest getting me all curious...
