Nice!

Saturday morning is my favorite MMO time. House is quiet, everyone's asleep, just me and my pot o' coffee.

Heck, Trion and their game keep sucking me in. Really cutting in to my CoH double XP weekend time.

Now if you'll excuse me there are some rifts that need closing. :)

Don't get burned out on beta, release is just a month away.

Totally, agree. Good time to roll as many class combination as you like to find what works for you and what does not, so you have more time for Rift surfing once Rift goes live.

Very good point! Perhaps I should give it a rest for a bit to avoid burning out. Still darn hard to resist though.

Yup, I have stopped playing because I can already feel myself begin to tire out. I want to be fresh and excited on Feb. 24th.

I had my first real "whoa, this game is a bit different" moment last night. After two of tried and failed to close a life rift a couple levels above us, we decided to hand in some quests and ding a level or two before trying again.

But when we got back to town, it had been taken over by fire giants, and it took a dozen of us more than 10 minutes to finally drive them off. Lots of fun, quite unexpected, very cool.

Was happy to hear this, because I'm having trouble not running around beating on rift critters long enough to actually see much of anything.

I swore I would never pre-order another MMO, but I might make an exception for Rift.

Am I the only one not digging this game? I was really hyped for it until I played it...tried out a few betas now to give it more of a chance but it just seems very dull to me, particularly the character design, armor designs, animations, skill designs, skill trees, pvp, quest structure, hub structure...well, pretty much everything. It's not a bad game by any means but the product as a whole feels very "safe" and honestly boring...

You're not the only one. I think I logged in twice during the last beta and only once in this beta. Bored out of my mind. And I was a bigtime fanboy on their forums, too.

Nevertheless, it seems like a lot of people are having a lot of fun and I wish them all the success in the world (while I wait patiently in the wings for my dream MMO to be released -- whatever that is...)

You are right about the playing it safe part. But can you blame them? Every mmo that i can think of after 2009 has had some crazy non working beta and launch, utterly ruining their chance to be extemely successful

They are actually being quite unique by playing it safe and making everything similar and stable for launch.

Which can be both a good and bad thing, guess we gotta see how it goes.

@kjhasdfjkhk Have to agree - made myself play for a few hours tonight but just don't seem to be getting it. Bored out of my mind the whole time even though a couple of friends finally got keys and we ran around in a mob. Beta 5 was Trion's last chance to draw me in - I won't be downloading another client.

Nothing bad to say about the game itself however - what they've produced they've produced very well and it should become industry standard to release games that seem to be as polished and ready to ship as Rift. It just that I've already put thousands (ouch, really?) of hours into what they've done, albeit with different graphics and across some slightly different settings and I'm bored with it. Wish them the best of luck though.

Yes, you are not alone.

1) Its a chaotic mess. It really is. I felt like I was in a herd of cows being run through a cattle pen. Everything is just so freaking fast and click fest like. Its a game made by those with ADD for those with ADD.

2) Its basically WoW. Sure they got 3 class trees you can mix up. But other than that, its WoW.

3) The game is a resource HOG. I can't believe this game is so close to being released. It freezes up and crashes so much.

4) It killed my mouse. No seriously. On the 4th time the game client froze up and I brought up the task manager, my mouse stopped working. The optical light on the mouse wasn't even on anymore. I unplugged and replugged, but it still wouldn't come up. I could pop it into my front usb and it would work, but not through my ps2 port (with my adapter). Finally, after several hard power offs and ons, I finally got the ps2 port to work again. I highly doubt this was coincidence. The odds of a beta test client crashing and my mouse port going out at the very same exact moment is astronomical ( I better go buy a lotto ticket if thats the case).

5) The graphics and technical (more like lack there of)on so much stuff, like loot and what not is damn near literally a cut and paste from WoW. They could lift those items up and toss them into WoW and you would never know they didn't belong there, even the stats on the items. It just seemed like a hurried yet boring re-hash of WoW with some WAR tossed in. I lost intrest pretty quickly as there was nothing to make me 'want' to actually look at anything longer than .1 seconds to acknowledge that it existed.

So yeah, totally bored me to tears. I felt like I was playing in a WoW game where they just took everything and scrambled it up. Its a shame because I was really looking forward to this game about 6 months ago. But it went in the opposite direction that I had hoped. I'll stick with EQ2.

@kjhasdfjkhk Yep, that pretty much sums up my feelings of this game. In their attempt to play it safe they made the game very ho-hum and sterile.

I can not stand playing this game for another hour, let alone a month, and do not get my started on the broken (faceroll) balance between classes during player-versus-player.

@kjhasdfjkhk: nope, you're not the only one. Way, way, WAY too derivative to get me interested. It's a shame that such clearly talented developers have no ambition to make something fresh and different - if they just wanted to add invasions and more choice of talent trees to WoW, they should have gotten a job at Blizzard.

Those of you who are giving it up as being "just like WoW" I have to ask: What level did you play to? Be honest.

If you quit before level 10 I can see what you're saying, although by 10 you're already starting to get exposed to some of the elements that make Rift as much like WoW as WoW is like WAR, LotRO and Aion.

The game was designed to be comfortable for players of those other games. That much is obvious. But after you try to go turn in your quests and (as someone above described) find that the hub has been overrun by enemies and your quest givers are all dead until YOU take the hub back, tell me then that it's just like WoW.
