Gameplay and graphics look really good and I bet it's fun to fight some mobs /players for quite a while but i'm afraid that the rest of the game will be the same old same.

They showed off 1 maybe 2 or 3 skills each, in these overly short videos. The game is out in Korea and they can't show more? Terrible videos. The graphics are amazing, other than that it seems like an action MMO with a $15 dollar a month pricetag tacked onto it.

Warrior is a duel-wielding fury warrior.
Slayer is a 2h warrior.
Berserker is a 2h warrior.
Lancer is a 1h/shield tanking warrior.

All 4 can literally be combined to make 1 class.

4 Classes that look all the same. Awesome. The videos showed me absolutely NOTHING I didn't already know for months. This post just disappointed me, the videos even more so. Hopefully Rift will pull through, I hate how WoW is the only good MMO out there after 5 years still. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A GOOD MMO, THANKS.

Sincerely,

-Millions of bored MMO subscribers

@m0rpheu2

Funny, I'm a bored MMO subscriber yet this overly interests me becaus I'm a Monster Hunter fan. Keep trying with that whole perceived "voice of the people" nonsense.

Well...that answers that question. Female Popori's (or what ever they call them now since they're not Popori's per say I'm told) are a playable race in Tera.

I do like the Priest and Mystic clips.

@Utakata The popori females are now called Elins, I belive. I guess they got their own name since they were so different from the males/poporis.

It looks pretty, but we know how that can go. Just because its pretty in the outside dont mean its going to be good. There is a lot more that needs to go into an MMO than just graphics. Take FFXIV, beautiful graphics but no game play whatsoever.

So here is hoping that they do a good job with it and that there is more to it than the great graphics and pretty moves for the classes.

I have been excited to see anything about this game. While I wish the videos would have been longer, I don't see that as a downfall but rather a plus that I want to see much more of a game. While these short clips could have been compiled into one larger video, I can see where having them separate is convenient for those wanting to see more about the particular class they want to play.

As someone that typically plays a tank in every MMO I play, I must say I'm not entirely thrilled about the Lancer (though the lasso of light pull is amazing) as it looks kind of dull with just charging and shoving the lance at the enemy. The other classes though you can really see the differences between them. Someone above posted that the Slayer/Warrior/Berserker/Lancer could all be rolled into one class with different trees but you can really see how the play styles will be different across the board for them even though these are short clips.

It's nice to know that these were done with the same engine that is in the game and not all post work. The artwork is a love it/hate it thing and I happen to love it. If you don't then the game probably isn't for you.

Another thing of note is that this is the first bit of content we have seen from the EU developer (IIRC)and that the silence that we've had for so long is slowly starting to break is a great sign. With the KR version being released and the NA/EU devs being quiet for now I see as a good thing. They are waiting, working and reacting to what they see and soon we will probably get a huge chunk of news and info and content being released to the public when they get their ducks in a row. Silent doesn't always mean bad things, it could mean that they are compiling everything they want to release and hitting the MMO world with a storm of content at once, which is fine by me.

I'm looking forward to action-based MMO like Tera where player skills play a significant role in determining how well the character performs.

I believe it's too early to say whether such action-based MMO will be the future. Co-existence, rather than head-on competition, with traditional MMOs would be the likely scenario. Not everyone has good hand-eye coordination. Moreover, some players are more comfortable with a system where character advantages such as stats, levels and gear determine success.

Hmm.

When you guys watched these videos, at what point did you think they looked cool or said “awesome!” in your head? I’m just not getting it. I watched the first two then it took me about an hour to muster the willpower to watch the others.

I don’t mean to poke fun, it’s an honest question and one I’m sure this comment will get buried for but an intelligent answer might help me see what I’m so desperately missing at the moment.

Right now I’m just seeing another boring, “samey” Asian looking game with strange physics and bad armour choices. I'm well aware of the combat system too *shrug*

@Le Chat Noir

It's mostly preference. I, personally, like action-rpgs and love Monster Hunter, so the idea of a non-targeting, skill based RPG just calls to me. Plus it sounds/looks deeper than Vindictus.

Bit disappointed by the videos as I was hoping for an overview of gameplay and skills for all the classes (rather then just useless posturing form each class), but still excited to try the game as it keeps the core fantasy MMO features whilst adding a few new ones to progress the genre - hope it works out...!

I would have hoped for a more western artstyle but Im not like others who jump up and down crying about it, just accept it and judge it on its merits and wait and see.

It makes me kind of upset, TERA that is. This is apparently what L3 was going to be, it makes me think I could be looking at a Lineage 3 release instead of a TERA release.
