Definitely shows some cool stuff. Although I play LotRO more than anything, I do still greatly enjoy EQ2.

So Ever Quest is finally going to Icecrown to take down the Lich King? Better late than never I guess.

I don't see how anyone could get excited for that, it has no style or epic feeling to it, it just looks so... bland.

@Drunken Irish Sniper
I don't play EQ2 but Velious was an Original EQ expansion and many EQ vets including me think it was one of the best. So I can see many people getting excited about it.
Also Velious predates WoW's "Velious" expac by what.. almost a decade?

@Muddleglum

What's funny is that Icecrown is just a frozen over Mordor, complete with the eye of the Sauron.

Tired of 2 headed giants, also tired of ice and giant chains holding what together - I don't know.... EQ2 seems to have a thing for giant chains.... Whatever...

What's with that font, it looks like it was pulled from the logo of a Geocities wesbsite circa 1997.

I remember the trailer for Desert of Flames being epic and cinematic.

Funny how it took a previous Massively article about the lack of information being put out by Sony on DoV to spur this sudden rush of info. 5 days later and we have 8 screen shots, some pre-order info, and a new video. I'm sure that negative publicity didn;t light a fire under your butts at all...

Thanks for listening to you customers the past month Sony... stand up job!

"Stand up job" and $oE do not belong together.

Haha. I thought I poured on the sarcasm pretty thick there, no?

DoV will be the end for most long time EQ2 players as $medley, $mokejumper and the entire EQ2 team move closer and closer to Station Cash development as a priority. Sad part is they don't seem to care because they obviously think they can replace those of us leaving with younger, less devoted casual subscribers or oblivious EQ2Ex players.

What do we get for our $40 this time? Another 2 Outland, 10 instance, 4 raid expansion, of which, we know NOTHING about... well accept for flying mounts. I guess that will be good enough to keep some fanboys attached to the game for awhile.

I think this is the last so called x pack for EQ2.
Obviously the game has been put into maintenance mode with the 3 or so people left working on it.

"Just keep the servers up and bleed what remaining customers we have with Station cash crap until they all leave"

Polesmo.........err I mean Smokeblower and Smedbucks are off to NGE another $oE game.

It's quite sad to be honest. EQ2 once acted as an end-game alternative to WoW, and had its own unique look and feel to it. Those of us who chose not to deal with the notorious WoW community felt like EQ2 was a place we could call home. If the game had stayed true to it's routes and maintained its core audience it would've done quite well for itself given the appropriate amount of developer time.

Instead however, $mokejumper found the need to turn the game into yet another "WoW clone" (I hate that term) which is essentially digging EQ2's grave. $oE is such a poorly run company nowadays. It's really not even funny. Customer service has gotten to the point that it takes 3 weeks to restore hacked accounts, and no refunds are given. They don't even have a 800 #!!! Developer time is almost completely filled with SC fluff that it even takes away from them fixing existing content that has been broken for years now. Developers have been openly caught lying to the subscribers and on a few occasions, even fought directly with some subscribers via the forums.

It's obvious SoE just wants EQ2 to die a slow death and bleed it for everything is worth while giving it's subscribers a bare bones development team that couldn't give a hoot about what they are releasing to their customers. What a crying shame...

I'd be excited if half the "content" wasn't shoved into the station cash market place.

I'll stick with wow. EQ2 was fun for a few years but their current direction is absolute garbage.

@pcgneurotic

It would've been sooo nice to not have $oE SC fanboys like you the last 2-3 years... Maybe than EQ2 would still be a challenge and veterans wouldn't been quitting in the droves we are currently seeing.

Live long and prosper, loser.
