I think this will be more a reflection of what Logan Thackeray's skill set was in the Destiny's Edge book, which was like a combination of Monk and Warrior with an emphasis on protection magics.

"Guardian" makes sense in light of their abandoning the dedicated healer. They'd need a name that is obviously defensive and protective to soften the blow to the bereaved monks. I'm excited about the profession!

I'm sick of getting GW2 news through PC Gamer though. They seem to fall far on the NCSoft side of GW, rather than the ArenaNet side as far as the companies' ideologies go. My first assumption was that PC Gamer messed up again.

I have been looking forward to this game coming out for a long time, but its really getting ridiculous now how they keep putting off a release. At this rate, the games graphics will be outdated by the time they release it.

@TC93

I Agree with you, if they would release 2 New Proffesions next week, then you wont hear me Complain ;) so I hope the other 3 Proffesions will take less time....

Sounds like they're going back to the classic D&D Cleric model, with heavy armor, healing/support spells, and a mace instead of a sword.

I think this class will be taking on the Paragons role, basically a warrior with more of a focus on support than soloitary DPS. Maybe they won't use shouts to do it though since like others have said in the book he seems to have protection prayers like spells. And well, warriors already have shouts.

Guessing he'll get a spear as a ranged weapon option, and maybe some caster weapons but assuming he even has spells maybe he'll just cast with martial weapons like how a necro can cast with axes. Probably a warhorn too, everybody but eles already has it. Would be cool to see some melee spears too.

@Necromas The weapon list for GW2 doesn't have any spears.

@Necromas

The character of Logan Thakaray, the Guardian, has an ability to "paint" in the air a blue force field with his hand, as well as healing abilities. So, based on this, the magic won't be just in the weapons...

So reading over the new book, here's a general list of the main characters and guessed professions:

Rytlock: Warrior (confirmed)
Logan: Guardian (confirmed! thanks, Anet!)
Caithe: Assassin? Rogue?
Eir: Ranger (with pet dire wolf Garm) (confirmed)
Zojja: Elementalist (confirmed)
Snaff: Golemancer? Engineer? Machinist? Something like that...
Queen Jennah: Mesmer

and the first book had a Necromancer (confirmed), even if nothing else was specifically mentioned.

So I forget the grand total of how many/what type, but my guess is we're still looking at a machine/engineer class, a rogue/stealth class, and the return of the mesmer class, as well as this new Guardian magic wielding/healing/melee class.
