Good way to end the story - screw bliz and congratulations ryan. Now he can go and do exactly what Warcraft did to Warhammer (Gams Workshop). Make a game that is nearly identical to it and create an empire =P

I guess the never-ending rumor of a League of Legends MMORPG lives on...

As much as I think it's great to see industry picking up modders like this...

Acti-Blizz apparently only disputed the name of his mod. In response, Ryan writes a long QQ post on his forums crying that he's been done wrong.

If anyone has read the post, you'll see it looks like it's written by a frustrated 12 year old. I don't think Riot should be hiring anyone who has such a lack of grip on the way things work and how to be diplomatic with he owner of your mod's IP.

The ignorance of the comments on this site is...well not surprising at all. Blizzard is evil and satanic because they don't want someone using the name World of Starcraft for their mod for shame! Riot is in a hiring blitz anyways they seem to be picking up anyone that can operate a computer.

An MMO mod by Riot Games would be terrifying. I envision quest giving NPCs for sale, either for 200 hours of gameplay or $10 a pop.

Wooooo...

Everything aside, I will say congratulations to Ryan on his job offer and I hope everything keeps going on the up and up for him.

So it turns out this morning Blizzard responded to the mod author's email. From what the author says, there was some concern within Blizzard that the mod was being developed outside of Starcraft 2, which became a moot point when the author informed them that he wasn't doing that, and also some concern over the name, which they apparently do have a copyright on and the author is looking into alternatives.

Blizzard itself seems to be handling this in a pretty classy way. My money's on an overzealous Youtube script or someone on Activision's legal team getting trigger-happy.

League of Legends was kind of a rip-off of Dota anyway..... :P
So maybe Riotgames WILL be able to make a World of Starcraft MMO, only with a different name :)
