You should have video taped Rubi's response to the Charr thing. I would have paid money to watch that.

And this is why we tend to see 'stock fantasy races.'

Since I couldn't find a tvtrope for "Stock Fantasy Races", there's this trope. And god help me for linking tvtropes. See you on this site in a few hours when you get done with 5 million tvtrope pages. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FiveRaces

@RogueJedi86

All too familar with the site, Rogue. All too familiar....

I asked him to elaborate on why he believes we only see the same races over and over again.

People rip off every other element of WoW. Why not emulate its diverse race selection, too?

wow isn't exactly the origin of its own races. it copied and improved upon older mmos, so throwing around accusations that new mmos are copying wow is pretty pointless.

Fun article, I always wonder about PC races in games, but then I remember making monsters as player characters in D&D 3.5. I still have nightmares.

I would have added: 1) Frogloks from EQII, and 2) custom aliens from STO (c'mon, they can be ANYTHING)

@nomoredroids Yeah, but I don't think it would be very fun to play as an incorporeal spirit that spans the entirety of time.

First off, EFFFFF the draenei. I hate everything about them. I'm a total anti-draenite. Now, have you considered Shadowbane? Check this, son!

Aracoix (Flying Birdmen)
Centaurs
Half Giants
Minotaurs
Vampires (granted this was a lot cooler a few years ago)
