Today's feel-good story (if anything associated with the dreadful Queensland flooding can be termed feel-good) comes courtesy of N3V Games and F2P giant Runes of Magic. N3V, the game's Queensland-based publisher, has announced plans to assist flooding victims by donating half of the revenues from certain cash shop items to the relief efforts.
The special event begins this Saturday, January 15th, and ends on Sunday, January 23rd. Runes of Magic players can contribute to the clean-up efforts by purchasing star mounts or flame mounts (at a cost of 225 diamonds, or approximately US $12). N3V Games CEO Graham Edelsten explained his company's decision to lend a helping hand. "As a Queensland company we have many guys living in Brisbane who have been affected by the floods," he said. "This charity event is our way of showing our support for all of those affected by these unfortunate events."

Or they could, you know, not piss all over the flood victims by going for a marketing grab.
Seriously, if you're going to donate you a) do it quietly and b) just donate money.
Of course, this starts the whole "end justifies the means" argument, but having been to Queensland for a month, I'm really rather sad about what happened, and that this "feel-good" story is just another marketing ploy to make more money.

To be honest, if they were going to do it for marketing or not at all, they might as well do it for marketing. Some money still goes there and the victims need it :)

Ok, probably controversial, but if they are going to do this sort of silly marketing crap where absolutely nothing gets donated, why not donate it to people who actually NEED it? Australia is coping absolutely fine without international aid, its Brazil and Sri Lanka that need the aid right now, not Australia ffs!!

@Oizu
As a Brisbanite I agree.
We are a modern first world nation with shitloads of resources and highly trained personnel. The event is pretty much over and now the clean up is beginning. We have more than adequate resources to help ourselves with everyone pitching in around here and lending a hand. Other third world nations need international aid/donations/relief not us - to be honest, we've got our situation, as devastating as it is, pretty much in hand.
But thanks anyway, appreciate the thoughts. ;)
