Anyone play this and have some feedback?

I played it for 2 months after release and haven't since.

I just did "fall" for it. It was a decent game but felt it wasn't worth my sub at that time.

Good to see they are still working toward a solution.

So it appears they are making it less catering to the 'all I wanna do is PvE' crowd? As is the majority who responded to the poll favor the risk of enemies coming into your PvE areas? That actually speaks volumes of the people who play Aion. Might be worth checking out again.

At themoment, the second phase of testing has:

Heiron/Beluslan PvP Buff: 0%
Eltnen/Morheim PvP Buff: 40% (up 20% from last setting of 20% so they say)

I haven't tested it myself, but people say Eltnen/Morheim is fairly safe from gankers, whereas Heiron/Beluslan is not very safe for low 40's levelling.

But you can probably stay at solo instance for Eltnen/Morheim 20-40 37-42, Steel Rake 40-47, Theo/Brust 45-50 if you wanted to avoid being ganked.

The problem is all NCWest can do is tweak a buff, which doesn't solve the underlying problem that rifting is broken because it allows massively over geared gankers (gold PvP gear, fully enchanted) to drive away all the players that are just trying to quest and level up. Even in Eltnen/Morheim with buffs, the gankers just roam in packs killing at will. The higher level players won't come defend the areas because there is no real incentive to or they are bored doing that. It is a good idea (rifting) that was badly implemented. The players have posted several good ideas on fixing this, but until the Korean devs decide to make changes this will continue to drive away players.

I think the problem with rifting in aion is simply the players. On my server there is currently a group 4-6 of players all level 41-45, who are almost fully decked out in abyss pvp gold gear; hunting players at a quest hub for level 36-38.

They aren't their for any so called challenge or for actual pvp, anytime the numbers start to even up they run off and hide until there are less people. Sending their assassin in to scout around before coming back and steam rolling anyone trying to solo/duo quest in the area.

On top of that they just keep at it, it's one thing to kill someone it's another to continually kill the same people over and over who stand 0 chance against you.

@SergeGaltier: As a PvP player of Aion myself, I absolutely ADORE when I hear stories like this. Not because I think ganking is fun - I do not think that; a close fight is always a lot more fun! - but because it tells me where I should go with my higher level characters when I'm just idling and have some spare time. After all, if I know that a dedicated group of low 40s are going to appear, with the intent to slaughter mid-30s, I'll go there with my high-40s twink and hunt them.

Being predictable is a good way to get sent back to your kisk, because there is always someone who is bigger, badder and better than you.

I've never really had a problem with rifting. Some of my best experiences in aion is our guild going out to "take care" of someone annoying one of our members. We'd have weekly events to clean up areas which generally ended up being some really epic pvp.(in the higher leveled areas) Now don't get me wrong I personally had some trouble until 44 or so but it's kind of a rite of passage before you're the one giving it out upon the gankers.

surely something as simple as only allowing similar level characters to engage in pvp with other similar levels would solve this problem of ganking?

@Bongo123
Not really, part of the major issue with aion is that it is VERY gear dependent. A level 30 twink can give a level 40's toon a serious run for their money. The problem is that it is just all mixed together, new players who can't afford pvp gear or enchants are usually 100-0 in 3-7 seconds.

I'm not sure their is a way to fix it at this point honestly, as much as it sucks sometimes I guess just suffer through it and instance level until you can actual get the gear to be competitive.

Even though I do like some PvPing every once in a while, it starts to be annoying when some small band of gankers (who are a few levels lower as well) keep killing me in a matter of seconds. Yes it's fun to hunt them with some fellow guildies but then they just hide and come back 15-20 minutes later.

Maybe I'm a more PvE oriented player, but the way Aion implemented their PvP & Rifting made me (and a huge chunk of my friends & guildies) quit playing.
