When it comes to the iPhone and other mobile platforms, MMOs are thin on the ground. Technical limitations make developing an MMO for a mobile platform difficult at best, but with titles like Pocket Legends doing so well, there's still an obvious demand for massively mobile games. Mobile game development studio Lakoo announced today that that its popular Asian iPhone MMO Empire Online would be released in the North American app store later this week on Saturday, January 15th.
Empire Online supports PvE with parties of up to five players at a time and five-versus-five PvP battles. Features include turn-based combat and an open skill-based character advancement system. Lakoo is hopeful that the game does well in North America, suggesting that over five million players have already registered in China, Taiwan and Australia.

Jeeeezus Christo, where's the bloody Android MMOs huh? Not even a single decent RPG game on the market yet. Very, very angry. I hate having to use my iPod touch for gaming (as opposed to my Samsung Galaxy S).

I think the big reason is the fragmentation of the android market. When someone develops an android MMO they almost have to design is specially for each individual phone. As opposed to the iPhone platform where you design for a single set of specifications and it will run on any iPhone.

Yea but I have Pocket Legends on my iPod, but I'm not a big fan. I wish some of the Japanese style/Final Fantasy RPGs would come to the Android Market.

That most certainly is the case, but it doesn't stop me wishing! :-)

Just spotted this on the UK app store, lot of people saying it is a scam app in their reviews. People being charged £20 for nothing after purchasing. Sounds pretty dodgy was going to try it there an then :/

@Dits As far as I can tell, Empire Online hasn't been officially released to the UK app store. Be very wary of scams.

i don't think they're involved, as a matter of fact its too risky to do something stupid like that since apple can just take them off the store easily.
