@Magnux

Want to pass over what you are smoking?

It's a CGI trailer not even done by Sony ( it was hired out ), nothing more.

@MrGutts

A lot of companies hire out for a lot of their CGI. Even the mighty Blizzard hired out for SC2.

this should be an interesting week... I see the PS3 version going belly up first... followed by the PC... this game was lacking in so many ways, and not nearly ready for launch, but alas, it is Sony... go figure.

DCUO: It's a lot like Global Agenda's launch: twitchy, buggy, annoying interface, bad control scheme, lackluster art direction.

It's shiny and it's fast but it's nowhere near as good as the other Superhero games on the market.

Honestly, Champions feels way more polished, let alone CoH/V.

Ouch, show me some love, and yeah it's called sarcasm or a joke if you wish. Get off your WoW high horse lol.

Darrenkitlor you do realize that it's a fresh title right? Not a relaunch or anything, you can not compare the game to WoW, Champions or anything else out there as the game just came out.

It might bomb or it might be the next great thing you can't say just cause the other games that have been coming out are not up to par that they will bomb. Come back in 6 months and if the game bombed just post and be like "I told you so."

Just looking at stuff like Rift my opinion is that while it has a nice premise that it will bomb, same can be said about Star Wars coming out that it will bomb. We dont know if it will or not but you never know.

Target and or SOE (both most likely) screwed up everyone's order that pre-ordered the PC version so that you either cancel your order or wait for 1-2 months to see if it will ever ship. Target even is sending me a $10 gift card due to my squawking, but the fact remains that I will never get my pre-order bonuses because Target couldn't honor their pre-orders (which is kinda what pre-ordering is about...not being told it's sold out)
I'd check on the status of my ticket I put in with SOE about it, but of course, the support site has been broken all day. Imagine that. LOL

The faster this game tanks the faster development companies will stop thinking they can make mmorpgs for consoles.

Plus it's always good to see SOE fail.

@smg77 and for what weird reasons they shouldn't do MMOs for consoles? With the fact that consoles (at least the one in question) have full native keyboard+mouse support and full online access, there's absolutely nothing there that should stop developers from looking for fresh markets.

Besides someone's stupid PC elitism, of course (and mind you, I'm primarily a PC gamer).

@smg77 oh, forgot to mention, making a MMORPG for consoles as well gives devs a chance to approach that big customerbase that can't afford a powerful gaming PC (not everyone can justify 1000+ dollars to play), without having to hold their games down with graphics egines from the early 2000s, that will run on the crappy laptop of all the soccer moms out there.

Unfortunately concurent dev cycles like SOE had with DCUO often leave alot of features that PC gamers take for granted on the floor missing, unfinished or just plain old impossible to implement.

There are features, body sliders for one, that could not be implemented according to devs because it bogged things down on the PS3. Other things, like UI, plain stink for the PC because they were designed for the console minded. Either way, we are left with a much poorer product then we could have gotten.

Now I don't personally have any problem with console MMOs, but I do have a problem as a customer paying for something that clearly is a weaker product then it potentially could have been. This is hardly a new issue either, consoles often are plagued with issues like these. In the previous generation Deus Ex and Mafia for the PS2 are perfect examples of just how badly the divide between systems and PCs can get. I believe that with DCUO its just the first sign of things to come if devs continue in this direction.

@DiscordSK there's nothing actually preventing a developer to work on separate UIs for PC and consoles (besides the silly idea that all players NEED to be working withe exactly the same tools.. even if they aren't in the most basic sense).

As for the few things that might be scaled down to accomodate a console's processing power, they will always be less of a problem than using an engine from world war 2 to accomodate ultra-low-end computers in order to grab some customers thre.

Besides final fantasy XIV there isn't *one* MMORPG out there that challenges decently the gaming PC I invested upon.

I was almost going to play this, and I am a huge DC fan (more than I am an MMO fan even). $0E showed it's greedy hand early by charging Australians 25% more for everything - despite our currencies being at near parity and despite not giving us servers or anything that would justify an extra cost.

So watching this should have made me excited. Now I'm kinda glad, no MMOs on the Radar for a while I'm going to go get a tan.

It's a dreadful trailer, so at least SOE is being fair at preparing players for what the game is like.
