"And those who praised Koda and accepted this offer became the kodan. And those who were not ready and did not wish to change remained as bears."

I sort of wish they'd made the Kodan playable instead of the Norn.

@GryphonStalker Well, Norn CAN change into bears, among other things. I say we got the better end of the deal.

@GryphonStalker you're only saying that because you've read their background. You'll be saying the same thing when they divulge the background of other non-playable races of Tyria, like the Quaggans, and Skritt.

"The Kodan, previously known in only the barest terms"

*slow clap*

That having been said, HERESY BEARS. I love it.

After reading the article, I have to say they sound really, really cool. The way the lore is written gives a very balanced view of them and their belief system, and I can't wait to meet them in game. Also, I'm happy to finally know who the iceberg ships belong to (and that they'll probably be seen in game, too)!

The Kodan aren't a playable race.

...and besides I already play a game where I have stare at a bear's ass while it tanks. I don't to play a game that has two types of those.

I swear the concept artists that work creating for Guild Wars 2 are the best! - An iceberg island ship-city populated by intelligent polar bears? - wth? - GENIUS !!!

I don't think many studios develop their non-playable races with this much depth. Hell, some studios don't give this much attention to playable races. This is why my studio of the decade is AreneNet. That and the artwork.

@Dumac

It's not outside the realm of possibility that new playable races might be added; certainly, this one looks interesting enough, for all their similarity to the Norn. Personally, I'm still holding out hope for playable Tengai (the bird men from Factions) or possibly centaurs. :)
