It may not be superhero MMO types' cup of tea...but from what I've seen of it, I suspect at least it will come with a bit more polish. :)

Didn't you know, Massively are in bed with every MMO.

(Accpet for Farmville...I haven't seen them write anything about it yet.)

Possibly true, I've just seen articles that have commented on the weak points of other games here yet seem to be skirting around them entirely for DCUO, just seems funny.

I'd have to disagree, games tend to be given a little leeway in beta/pre-launch stages because things can potentially change. Nothing is, hopefully, set in stone so problems can be fixed concerns can be addressed and content added in the magic launch patch.

Realisticlly, thats never happened yet in the history of MMOs(Or the ones I've played anyway).

That being said, I look forward to seeing the reviews and if SOE has removed the upper parts of its body from its own rectal cavity. The game, while extremely polished, has the least ammount of content in an MMO to date. For me that list includes Aion and Champions Online, both games I played at launch and both notoriouslly content lite titles.

RE: Content, I personally wouldn't be surprised if they held back completed content to patch in monthly to create a certain image that they can uphold that claim they made. I mean look at how much they tooted on about powers and how they are all so different from each other....yet most powers have a double(s) in one of the other power sets just with a different secondary effect so I'd be willing to bet on that they've already got a few other power sets completed.

I understand, but after five years development the game really should have a bit more meat on it. As it is, it could easily double the ammount of missions, city bosses, quest instances and still be considered rather skimpy.

And I doubt anyone who logs in at launch day will suddenly find a whole lot more for them to do while leveling. So being forced to wait five or six months for the content updates to catch the game up to what it should have launched with... really not selling the idea for DCUO at the momment. For me anyway.

I wasn't that shocked at lack of content. Look over the years of video. Every year they put the game on display, the core concept kept changing. It went from a PC MMO with focus on powers(traditional MMO) to a Console MMO with focus on combat(action MMO), Also the team changed somewhere in the middle of development when they brought over console developers.

I think the change was a good thing b/c the previous versions looked like CO...and we all see how that went.

I don't know, if I recall correctly, the primary concern CO players had was a lack of content. Leveling was limited to a short ammount of instances and four main quest hubs with two, Lemuria and Monster Island, that could be unlocked by doing Crisis Missions. Endgame was limited to a tiny handfull of instances and PVP.

DCUO on the other hand has two main quest hubs, both are cities, a small handful of instances while leveling (repeated for the most part from mentor to mentor as well as side to side) and endgame consists of a couple repeatable instances as well as duo and higher level versions of instances you ran while leveling. Oh, and a fairly broken and rather tacked on feeling PVP system.

So.. yeah, I've been looking at the way CO went and then looking at DCUO and rather concerned. On the plus side DCUO does have a known license which will drag in a ton of players initially... but I don't see many of them staying long past the first month or two.

Uh... just like CO.

Its very hard for me to judge CO. I hated every moment I played the game past alpha. They even invited me to F2P beta for some odd reason. I feel like there is more substance to DCUO than CO. But I'd say the same thing about a brick vs CO. I will say DCUO is not a game I crave to play but its a game I know I will enjoy my time in when I do play. So worth a purchase but not worth a monthly fee is my review.

I did enjoy myself the 3 months of beta and when launch gets fixed(cause I know it will be broken), I will pick up my pre-order and a lifetime. Then never touch it again when RIFT comes out. I got so addicted to battlegrounds this weekend.

About DCUO PvP...I've been in an arena battle once. I queue up for them but it never pops. The one time I did get in, I was so lost on what to do. System needs work. The legends PvP is fun and will get better as they add more heroes. But its mostly fun cause you can play as the other the Iconics.

@DiscordSK,

I have been assuming its content lite b/c of the need to provide monthly updates. Testers questioned what would be released monthly and were skeptical that it would be enough. They insisted we would be satisfied...so we'll have to wait and see.

Its hard to judge how much content is there because they don't make you repeat the content over and over again to reach max level. I remember in CO and Aion staying in one 30 meter block killing mobs for over an hour grinding out stupid quests. I donno. I purposely stayed under level 20 to keep fresh content so I will have plenty to do post release.

About beta event...
I didn't know people were having trouble till I was about to log off. I played for over 2 hours that night on multiple PC servers w/o crashing. Then I heard people were crashing so I donno. But there were over 100 people and in some cases 200+ in one area so I expect some people had issues. I haven't seen that many gathered in an MMO since EQ1.(Yes, I did see the Eve battle on youtube)

Nothing of any worth in DCUO except the licensed characters and voice work. Champions Online had superior features, stability and functionality at launch as well as a superior art style. If you don't care about or know DC characters and story arcs, there is nothing there for anyone as a mere MMO enthusiast.

Aside from a game after the costume creator. If Champions had one, it might be going F2P (in the single dumbest F2P conversion ever).

there's not much game after the character creator, theres a fair bit of potential but lets not exaggerate about the game both seriously lack content.
