The Daily Grind: Would you roll back a portion of your favorite MMO?

Without any shadow of a doubt, roll SWG back to the Pre-NGE state.

to revive RF Online i would remove the PK feature and the mining only for the controlling race.

Other than that i've seen some great changes that are impressive and worth the upgrade.

The NGE is a tough one. I'm one of the many that hated it.

But.. but.. people forget that were huge problems with the game as it was before the Combat Upgrade. So in answer to the question, and in relation to this specific game, it wouldn't be enough to just roll it back. It's the reason why the several projects to release private pre-cu servers don't interest me that much.

We were all waiting eagerly for the CU because the game needed fixing. There were horrific balance issues. The template was there for an awesome game, and god knows I loved my time there, but the game would need to be rolled back pre-CU, put in the hands of a decent development team and moved forward.

I also wish they'd roll back to Vanilla, just for a week, so that all the rose-tinted glasses crowd that call for it could get a harsh reminder of the numerous weaknesses of the game at that time. If a game advertises an awesome shape-shifting class and then designs the entire endgame for that class to involve NEVER shape-shifting, you know things needed a second look...

I don't think people want to remember what Pre NGE/CU was like. The game was not good. It was unbalanced and hard to get into. I remember logging in before NGE/CU was announced and the servers were a ghost town. People just weren't logging in. So all these people who wanted to save SWG should have been subbed up and playing.

I wish they would roll back EQ2 all the way back to Planes of Power and remake the game to be a true successor to EQ, EQ2 spent so much time trying to not be EQ that they lost sight of what people loved about the game.

SWG Pre-CU is the easy one for me. Even if they didn't do a rollback and just created Pre-CU servers where you had to start from scratch, I would be there day 1 even after all these years.

EQ rolled back to just after the release of Scars of Velious would be a great roll back as well. But EQ's to old for me to want to go back and play it now.

I'd roll back that stupid cavern combat expansion with the stupidly overpowered battlemechs in PlanetSide. What a disaster that was...

Ss for the NGE, I'm ambivalent. PreCU's combat sucked. I remember spamming some TKA AoE attack while being surrounded by a dozen rancors and then just going AFK. Then you had all of the B.S. Mind games which gimped the hell out of any profession that couldn't hit Mind in PvP. Made pistoleers and carbineers worthless (unless you picked up the carbs line in BH for Eyeshot, a mind attack, which made you a step above worthless).

Yeah, when I think of preCU I have images of my Master Commando dying because my grenade's explosion radius was further than I could throw it and I'd end up incapping myself. And no worries for the target, my accuracy mod was so freaking low that it never hit what I threw them at anyways.

SWG combat system to CU or pre-CU state, but keeping all content and improvements of last years.

Even more than I would like to rollback SWG to pre-CU and take another whack at fixing the original design instead of redesigning the game? Even more than that, I wish we could roll back the PvP changes in City of Heroes and (again) fix the existing system instead of trying to design an entirely different system that ended up even worse than the system they were trying to fix.

But even more than I'd want to roll back either of those two changes, there's one I want way more than that: I'd like to make it so that Neocron 2 never happened; fix Neocron 1 instead.

Dark Age of Camelot's frontier zones, its actually the reason i stopped playing. I guess im nostalgic for bottlenecks at the mile fort resulting in long standoffs.

I would go back to SWG to play on a classic server in a heartbeat. Iwould play that and TOR when TOR comes out. I did not mind the CU upgrader at all. But I would add all the content hey have added over the years. But it just sems that SWG has evolved into a less than Star WArs sideshow with cupids, zombies, and flying ewoks. And that NGE UI skin for the hotbars is still the worst looking texture.

I would go back and play SWG if they had a pre NGE pre CU server, that is for sure.
