I've always had ideas like this; ever since things like the boxing game with the handles attached and you moved the monitor to duck/weave (this was in the arcades).

While I agree, some people may point and snicker, I think such games and tools are needed to get some exercise. I have been hoping for more meshes between my favorite hobby and exercise.

One thing, where are the articles testing the PS3 move with such things? Maybe the Kinect is a Windows-based thing, but I keep seeing articles like this and have to wonder.

This doesn't seem to be a plausible control mechanic for a majority of mmorpgs.
I am not sure how 40+ hotkeys as well as character movement/strafing can be mapped to body gestures.

@mmojosh

On the other side, it seems MMO designs these days are all about avoiding complicated control schemes.

@SgtBaker1234556

Still, how could they make 15 or 20 key-binds to just body movement? I love the idea and hope they can work out something.

@Kunari

Do you really think that keyboard is more flexible than human body?
Just need some time to get used to...

"Now instead of sitting around for six hours fighting the Horde, you can get up out of your seat and punch an orc in the face."

Awww, c'mon now! Why not spend six hours punting Alliance gnomes? We all know they are the true scourge of Azeroth!

What would make more sense is to have voice activated followed by movement activated. For example: World of Warcraft mage - I want to cast a fireball I say "Fireball" or something like it and then it begins to cast, and then I can throw my hand forward to have it launch out at my target. Or something like that anyway.

What we are seeing now is the commodore 64 days of the motion activated gaming, 20 years from now, who knows, maybe we'll finally be using holodecks or something similar.

We call the act of replacing a single button press with a completely irrelevant action "Waggle" and it accomplishes nothing.

You know how many 35+ people will be rushed to the hospital after a raid?

Dear God man... the humanity!

For God sakes.. don't make this a reality!

..oh but on the bright side.

This will cut out all that stupid unnecesary jumping that goes on in MMOs so it just may be worth it.

The first retard breaking his leg jumping around me in an incessant endless circle IRL deserves it if they try it with this system.

changed my mind.. bring it on!

This is pointless; even if you could map 20 hotkeys to body gestures, that person will be at a major disadvantage from keyboard users. It is alot faster to hit 10 hot keys in 3 seconds than it is to do some weird body manoeuvres in the same time.

Motion controls this will never compete in the most competitive sense with actual keys.

Nice work guys, but I really think they are overstating the benefits quite massively. Someone that is obese is not suddenly going to get healthy by flapping their arms around playing WoW for an hour a day.
And if parents can't manage to teach their kids better than needing stuff like this to entice them off the couch then there's not much hope for them.
