No Tobold or Keen and Graev?

Also, adding to the list. Psychochild is a great indie developer who worked with the classic MMO Meridian 59 and is working hard on future projects at http://psychochild.org/

Tesh at http://tishtoshtesh.wordpress.com/ is also very good. That's a Terrible Idea used to be excellent, but they stopped posting. Paragus at mmorpg.com is pretty good too.

@Dblade

Tobold is a bit... well, self centered - in lack of better word. But then again, he does say he writes it for himself, not for the general public, so I guess he's covered.

But Keen & Graev should have been on the list imho.

Also, Hardcore Casual is a bit strange choice, syncaine regularly spews controversial crap just to cause an hassle - and bloggers link it in nerdrage. He rarely has anything interesting to say. But then again, he is occasionally funny with his outlandish opinions (often about things he hasn't even played).

@SgtBaker1234556

Call Tobold what you want, at least he's normally mildly sensible and doesn't get sucked into a hysteria about some fault with the MMO genre. That, and I agree with him most of the time.

Hell, Dblade, you and Stargrace should've got a mention. Both blogs are a jolly good read.

I am so incredibly honored to even be mentioned and so very proud of our team of writers that helped us get that #1 spot. Thank you Massively!

I'm surprised not to see more EVE blogs there (and the one that is listed is self-admittedly not nearly as EVE-focused as it was in the past).

I still enjoy Tobold's blog, naturally (http://tobolds.blogspot.com). In fact, I'm incredibly surprised not to see it here.

Also, the Pink Pigtail Inn is rapidly ascending my own list.

And I hope it's cool to link to my own EVE blog, Ecliptic Rift (http://rift.chromebits.net). Not that it belongs on the same list with these folks by any stretch!

Echoes of everyone above. It's an honor to be included on this list, so thank you, Shawn. Blogging has its ups and downs, but the sense of community that comes with it, and the relationships that have come about through it, make an already fun hobby something I wouldn't trade for the world. We have one of the best gamer communities around and I'm happy every day to be able to check in and be a part of it.

BIo Break was the only one i was familiar with, was usually a good read. Opinions are fine and everyone has one as the saying goes. Nothing else listed was really worth reading in my "opinion" Nor did it really stand out over the years. Unless it catches my eye after a couple reads i pass on it. Good to see lots of the little sites still running.

I think Eve uses more of a shotgun approach to the blogging community. That is why they tend to win community awards but not individual ones. CK being the sole recipient is a case in point as he is known as the 'blog-father' of Eve.

It matter not what he writes about but rather he is the gateway to a whole bunch of other blogs about Eve that cover the various aspects of the game. I was happy to see the above winners and the honourable mentions. Many of these authors I have either read or listened to in various podcasts.

I think the worst thing about 'top tens' is that there ARE so many 11's and 12's and it is hard to cut the list short. Maybe for a future list, Shawn, you might write a reference of Blogs for a specific game . . . where to go if you want to know about this MMO or that one over there. I know the above list would be reiterated in a few spots but it would let the specialty blogs have their requisite 15 minutes of fame.

m

and yeah, I have a blog but it is not worthy of being linked in this article, not even in the comments.

I have followed Craig Morrison's (Funcom) blog for a while now. It is hands-down the most thought-provoking and of the highest quality of all the blogs out there related to MMOs.

Check it out... I think you'll agree.

I'm really surprised that Tobold blog is not listed: http://tobolds.blogspot.com/
I don't agree with everything he writes but some posts are really thoughts provoking (for example his "why do we play?" posts).
http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/why-do-we-play-mmos-series-concludes/

That said there's many blog i don't know on this list so i'm going to investigate but i doubt there's 10 other blogs above the quality of Tobold's blog about MMO design, behaviors, etc.

Yikes, thank you! Bit of a shock seeing this linked through various link-loops in my RSS feed this morning.

There are a ton of insanely great blogs out there but to me, what makes a great blog isn't necessarily traffic and it's not necessarily posting epictude. Shoutouts and much-more-deserving props to the already-mentioned Pink Pigtail Inn, Psychochild's Blog, Tesh's place, KIASA, Righteous Orbs, and many others.
