@Valdur

So not true... they fixed SOME stuff. Most of what people don't like are core gameplay mechanics that most likely will never be fixed, at least not until it's beating it's last heartbeat.

Main beefs that beta tests have (I am in the crowd, not alone either :p)
- Questing is complete handholding/railing. If you accidently skip a quest, you will run out of quests to do because you /must/ complete certain quests to continue to get any. This questing system is horrible and IMO worse than WoW. You are greatly encouraged not to leave the path they give you.
- Soul system, while it's nice being able to choose so many souls, you'd be stupid not to put all points into one instead of spreading them out to get the better abilities.
- Combat is slow and too many abilities are similar for different souls.
- Invasions are over-hyper PQs from WAR and truly have no meaning (at least from what beta saw). It's a DPS competition to the final "boss" of the invasion. No strategy, nothing exciting.
- Loot is horrible on mobs. Another reason you have to quest with your handheld. Nothing meaningful drops off mobs and there really are no unique boss mobs.
- This is just a few things, there are many others. :P

Now I realize some of these things can be fixed, but others cannot/will not.

aion's community team and support staff were kissing everyone's collective butts and promising sun shine and rainbows all during beta as well. As soon as the game launched they put the product on cruise control and then spent the next year saying things would be coming soon and there would be new news about the news some time in the future. It's what companies do. You should take that kind of support with a grain of salt because it almost always disappears once they have your money.

Just wanted to note they are changing the soul system for beta 3 more points and you can choose any of the 8 souls from the beginning now.

The patch notes are out for Beta 3. major changes the players asked for again and so far they are not making the mistake of the nerf wars seen in so many other games.
You can already see alot of the end game scaled down some in the 1-20 bracket. PvP should open in Beta 4, but the quests rewards and confirmation of experiance gain for pvp kills is in place. Rifts have been tailored now to include non dps contributions in the battle, and the Rift epic invasion was proven to work in Beta 2. Plus the normal instances and raids.
The Rift invasions put you into the battles of the games history. Instead of watching a video cut like in WoW, the raid boss opens masses of portals and sends forces through lead by elite troops and the sub bosses which are also raid level bosses. 1 server alone had 573 players agains 18+ rifts, 2 treant raid bosses and 2 dragons plus all the rift forces. The college was overrun. and fighting of one dragon on the bridge to Sanctum itself. The players actually fought off the historical battles, not just watch it.
Game is very polished and smooth, questing and crafting are same old thing. This is not a good thing, but it also is not bad. Its just the same.
You can level on questing, Rifting, pvp. ideally all 3. They do need to seperate or unlink key quests, and I expect to see them do just that by Beta 4 given their outstanding response to any common sense feedback.
I do thing that both GW2 and Tera will be better, unless those both fail to provide ongoing end game content. Rift has lots of endgame built in already and you can participate in the first of them as low as level about level 10. If nothing else the game is fun to play and will keep me busy till something better comes along.
