So do we think CoX will ever go F2P too? I don't see it myself, but perhaps it'll be part of 2011's review...

@pcgneurotic I don't think CoH will go free to play without major changes to the way the game currently works. That said, there is a strong possibility that they might lower the monthly fee to make a 6 year old game more competetive with DCUO or Marvel.

CO f2p: CoH thoroughly squashed CO. It even beat out CO for the Beckett award for best superhero/sci-fi MMO, an award CO should have easily walked away with. I do see CoH going f2p, too though. The Booster Packs are priming that pump in a big way. I don't see DCUO being any kind of a threat in 2011, either, except to CO, since DCUO is CO done right.

Layoffs: Letting BABs go was a big mistake. Of all the superhero MMOs up to and including DCUO, CoH has the best animations, especially in the combat animation department.

I17: Turns out I17 was a bit of a mistake as it stole some of Going Rogue's thunder. They had to put something out in this content-starved part of the game's history, though. And I17 was nothing if not expedient.

War Witch: I don't know what parts of I19 and I20 are to her credit or were already in the works, but it's too early to tell if this change was for the better or not. Most speculate War Witch will be more story/content focused whereas Positron was more systems focused. Time will tell.

Going Rogue: Too expensive for the content it brought (look what City of Villains did for the game with its $50 box and compare that with GR's $40 box), and it's been shown GR hasn't increased the game's revenue back to 2009 levels, but the server loads are back in the red/yellow and that's very good to see (but makes the lack of revenue all the more mysterious).

My biggest problem with GR aside from its lack of content is you end up with no one to root for. The Resistance is just as bad and good as the Loyalists who are just as bad and good as the Resistance. It's one big, grey (purple?) mess. Comic book morality is usually very cut and dried and for good reason: it makes for better storytelling.
