Bulgaria-based Masthead Studios has just announced a partnership with Iceberg Interactive to publish the sci-fi sandbox MMORPG Earthrise. The agreement covers the whole of Europe, and a press release on Iceberg's official website says that the game will be coming to European retail in February 2011. The release also hints at "exclusive extra content for boxed version buyers" as well as plans for localized versions to be announced at a later date.
Earthrise is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi game set in the 21st century that features open PvP, a complex crafting system, skill-based advancement, and a player-driven economy.

Looks like they're gonna push it out the door and get box sales to try to recover from time lost.
Oh well.

God I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyone have real intel on this game? Is this another rushed-to-release turd?

Interesting. I thought this game was lost in "perpetual closed beta" status given the lack of news.

I've asked about that and haven't received a response yet. The exact wording of the press release is "pan-European publishing agreement" which is pretty vague. I'll update it when the info is available.

If its anything like Pan European Game Information (PEGI - basically the game rating system for Europe) then this wiki link lists the countries that use it.

Sweet. Hope it doesn't suck. Actually, i literally don't know anything about it, so i don't care either way. But it would be sweet if a NICE game came along once in a while.

It is pretty much a un-polished/un-finished MMO if you have checked out their "beta" combat video. It is horrible:

Having to wait for a NA release could be a good thing. Work out the "launch bugs" =)
I want this game to be good so badly

Seems to be the story of the genre for the past few years, everyone "wants" a game to be good. Too bad 99% of them flop terribly. What's that? Release a turd and get no sales... Who knew!!
*MMO Business Model*
Hype Hype Hype / Cross Fingers / Ship a Turd / Fail!!

Yeah, that's true. Still waiting for that trend to die ... if it ever does.
I'm not sure why MMO developers keep going with this model of releasing junk. Even Ford figured out that if you continue to release junk, people will stop buying your product.
Maybe it helps that you only really get 1 or 2 games from a single company. The newest generation of crap comes from a difference source...

Look its so obvious that its kind of silly.
All we get from them are few pictures every month.
Then there is that unimpressive video ... you all know what I am talking about.
There is no Beta going that gives ton of keys like Rift, and even DCUO to some extent. NDA is not lifted either.
Its nothing close to stable with content - that is the only conclusion one can get to. As mentioned above ... its vaporware ... just forget about it ever popping on your radar.

I dunno... I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but that's what we all said about Darkfall.

I have been interested in this game for awhile. Will be looking forward to hearing about the NA release and NA beta, if any. But I will not blindly drop money on it without first getting to try it out, not falling for that anymore.

I fully expect negative comments once this is released into the wild. I have no doubt it is a niche game and will only appeal to a small audience.
My only personal reservations are that it may be too PvP focused and will suck terribly is its played for the PvE. I must be one of the few that actually wants a game that can be played for the PvE, but has the risk and threat of PvP at all times. UO was great in that regard, but nothing since then has even come close to pulling it off.
