@Jaimie. Everyone lies. What makes you think Blizz is any different?

@Utakata
I didn't conclude anything, just said I personally put my money on a Starcraft MMO, opinion not a statement of fact. It could be My Little Pony for all I know... but I'm guess not likely.

Please don't jump on my for my opinions as they are all that is truely my own :P

Some people have pointed out that Titan was the name of the Halo MMO project when that game was still in development. Maybe Blizzard had enough money in their hats that they bought the IP and picked up the unfinished work from that MMO.

@HereticalPenguin

They started work on this MMO long before Bungie even thought of doing a Halo MMO, so I doubt that some how.

Blizzard & Bungie signed a 10-year deal earlier this year and are working on something together. Its quite doubtful that it'll have anything to do with Halo, but having Bungie help with making some kind of new Sci-Fi/Space themed MMO, are the perfect choice since they were so incredibly successful with the Halo franchise...

@Khalus Activision Blizzard, not Blizzard. That's a fairly important distinction.

Blizzard's new MMO has been known to be in the works for several years now, so there's no way it's related. On top of that, AB and Bungie aren't "working on" anything together. What Bungie worked out with AB was a publishing deal, and Activision will probably be handling that, but Bungie is developing the games on their own.

There are lots of references to Titan artifacts, etc. throughout WoW. Look at the civilization's ruins upon which the current world of WoW is build. That could be one possibility.

But it could be anything, of course. It could be the past as mentioned above, or it could be a future SciFi world.

But there is some "Titan" in WoW, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's some sort of variation or development of that.

@xBludx

which is probably why they chose Titan as the project name. If it leaked the WoW fanbois would automatically come to the conclusion you just have. It is best not to forecast anything on this project from other Blizz-vision IPs. Just let them tell us in their own good time.

Blizzard needs a new IP. WoW will live on forever as the, "I play still play because all my friends do" game. Starcraft will always be an RTS for the "I'm better than you" market. Diablo will always be the game you can stop playing.

They need a new game to expand their holdings and something to push their stocks higher.

I don't think they can pull off an EVE online killer without pissing off StraCraft fans, not sure they would even try it.

They may try a WoW type game in the Sci-Fi style. Something along the line of Warhammer 40K using staff from WoW to flesh it out.

Whatever they do, I am sure the release date will be "When we are done"

Let's hope it's a steampunk or sci-fi MMO, I'm starting to get sick of pure fantasy settings. Fantasy settings are all well and good, but at some point you start to feel like every fantasy setting you see is pretty much the same as all the others you have seen.

Nothing wrong with spicing up a sci-fi setting with a few traits from fantasy though. Big, futuristic guns + magic-ish abilities = win.

Whatever Blizzard ends up making, I have confidence that they'll make something that takes elements from other games that are proven to work, improve those parts and blend them all together with its special money-printing sauce.

If they do end up sticking with this game, what if players decide to shorten the name (like with WoW) are they going to call it Tit??? I'm not saying it wouldn't be hilarious but talking about Tit in public could end up with a lot of nerds being slapped (probably by their mom).

when you have teams of extremely talented people at Blizz who have worked for years on nothing more than warcraft, starcraft & diablo, you'll get a certain degree of burnout and lets face it these guys are at the very top of their game so giving them the opertunity to get in on the ground floor and design a whole new world with new lore and gameplay mechanics different to what they've done before is the best way to set a fire under their bonnets and get the juices flowing..

again as stated they dont believe this new mmo will cannabalize subs from WOW and with Call of Duty & First person shooters being so massive, its stands to reason that Blizzard are going to turn their incredible wealth of talent of creating a persistant online world and couple it with a FPS and create the first Massively persistant online shooter... yes its been done before, but Blizz is gonna make it not only accessable, but they'll make it fun & easy to pick up and wrap the whole package up in a huge sci-fi setting that pits players against each other in one big planetwide war, that'll mix in traditional questing from a 3rd person perspective to heading to the battlefields and switching to first person to engage the enemy.... well thats my prediction anyways, and one id certainly give a go

The only thing that is certain right now is that they are making one. Everything else is guesswork so whilst its fun to speculate, I will not lose sleep until more info is released. Its safe to say it wont be a fantasy setting like WoW and WILL be a new IP - theres no reason Blizzard would lie about that when they could have just said nothing!

Yah, I'm going with it being a sci-fi job, with 'TItan' being a type of gigantic space ship/power armour/zap gun.

I'm just curious to what they are going to make the "catch" of this new mmo, the killer app if you will. They can't just make another WoW clone.
