"Why shouldn't we have a really good Life Day event in SWTOR, even if it would be more interesting if they took the theme a little more seriously?"

Because the game won't be out in time for Christmas.

Even Lucas thinks this little chunk of schlock shouldn't be canon. This, from the guy who gave us Ewoks and Jar-jar Binks

Ehh, I'm not big on holidays in MMO's. Sure, they can be fun on occasion, but they can also tear out immersion and burn it on a stake. Either case depends on how they handle it.

For example, right now it's christmas season, which means that in a game like, say... World of Warcraft, everything is decorated with lights and trees. Orgrimar suddenly loses its new threatening edge when christmas lights are draped around the battle ramps. But worse than that, you can't escape it. You go to the undersea battlefield where people hide in underwater caves, a constant atmosphere of dread and hopelessness surrounding you, and then the next day? Christmas trees everywhere!

Immersion goes down in flames.

So do I like holiday events? Sure, but don't try to force it down my throat to the point where immersion begins to suffer. If Life Day is a wookie holliday, let's keep it limited to Kashyyyk.
