I gotta say, this brings back a lot of memories from Ultima Online. I'll probably try it out just for that reason.

I would love to get an invite, if you still have any. This game looks like a lot of fun. I fell in love with the trailer about the time I saw a single player character with 20 or so skellies following them around. Heres hoping that means necromancy, since that is always fun to play around with.

Have been pretty excited for this one for a while. Being a UO vet it has been hard to find something to fill that void *crosses fingers for classic rule shard in UO that has been announced*.
Nice read, wish I could get into beta but I will have to wait I suppose.
glad to see this game still being worked on and getting attention now.

Very nice indeed. It has that "old school" vibe and yet it screams trendy fun. I'll keep my sights targeted at this intriguing upstart title. It reminded me of a mishmash of UO and Diablo, in a very bodacious way.

Oh hey, it's me, complaining about Time Warner Cable again lol.

Glad ya had fun, Beau. ^^

Oh, and as far as the world goes, the way Kat and I have been looking at it is that it's more like taking a slice of the world, claiming it, and molding it to be what you want it to be.

As far as content limitations, I haven't really seen any. Players can probably make whatever they wanted, even going so far as to use they're own textures in the editor I'm pretty sure, and since it's labeled as an 18+ game, as long as it's not offensive in some other sense, it would probably stay there.

In terms of everything fitting in, I think a lot of that comes in part to the world having a few diverse areas, giving players a chance to find the feel of the realm they want before settling in and making a home. =]

Oh, and there are a few things in the future coming out for realms that are going to allow for more versatility. ;)

Anyways, again, glad you had a nice stay. =]

I am one of the guides on Linkrealms and I have to say that I've tried UO before playing Linkrealms. When I played UO I found it confusing and ended up not playing for very long. However when I was invited to join Linkrealms I was greeted by player guides who were more than happy to explain how to play to me. This fact is what made me strive to become a guide. I was helped when I was a new player, and I want to help new players too. Linkrealms has a very friendly community of players that are more than willing to help any player out. Knowing this makes me love the game even more.

If anyone is interested in joining the Linkrealms beta, I would suggest signing up on the forums. https://forums.linkrealms.com/

We are currently in the process of sending out new invites. So just be patient.

I was really surprised to see Linkrealms pop up again. I just missed the last round of beta, which seems like several years ago now although it was probably more like 18 months and the website had remained so resolutely unchanged for so long I had removed it from my Bookmarks.

Very pleased to see it's still coming along. Looking forward to an open beta sometime in the future.

This game is a lot of fun. Lots of Sandbox elements yet still has the old school dungeon crawls. That picture is during one of them and it was a blast. That yellow hat old man at the bottom is me! Surprised you didn't get a shot when I was dead.

Really fun Isometric style game with a lot of potential. Keep your eyes on this one people :D

That stretched isometric view really reminds me of the RPG Faery Tale Adventure on the Amiga.

@Tempes Magus When I get around to reviewing it. lol I have a million games to choose from -- that's not the problem. The main issue is finding games that fit into the guidelines I have set for my column. A lot of the time, now, I have to even play the game ahead of time for a day or so to make sure it will actually work without causing me wrist pain or other issues.

But don't worry -- I have it downloaded and have been playing it. You will hear from me about it soon enough! :)

This game looks interesting, actually close to the original ideas in UO (unlike DF and MO that only got the "Open, full loot PVP everywhere" part that failed and was discarded soon after release and UO, while missing EVERYTHING else)

I looked at it's progress for a few years and really hope it gets to release at some point in the future.

This actually looks pretty cool. While player created content always seems "iffy" to me (usually you have a few people who do amazing work and the rest is crap), I might have to try this out simply for the UO-ness of it.

@Tempes Magus Not sure on date. But, why would you think Tibia isn't being played by anyone else? The site claims to have 250k players. hehe

I would love to try it if there are invites floating around. Played UO for many years, and I am glad to see someone getting back to that style of gameplay.

This game is the most entertaining game I evaaaah played.

I do what I like to do whenever I like to do as I like to do.

200 mb of pure old school mmorpg. This game is everything what mmo developers-publishers forgot about. The developer company shows that you don't need two warring factions and millions of dollars of production value to create a game which puts a smile on it's player's face.
