It's a free ship, how can you not like it?

Running hacking plexes is profitable again?
Or you have to hack the sansha loot?

Confusing.

Are using these unique ships a good idea?
You can't replace them once destroyed, can you?

Who cares? Any gift ship is going to do nothing but sit in a hanger for all eternity because EVE players will gank it if it goes outside. CCP really needs to stop being so idiotic and RELEASE BPOs so people can have fun using them without fear of them being destroyed and forever lost. But this is a dev legendary for its cluelessness.

@Dblade See, but if you release BPOs for these ships, they lose the purpose as a seasonal reward to people who have been playing the game.

Besides. Half the time, people lose the special ships because they're idiots, think that people won't try to gank it, and do things as normal. Especially right after release.

At least this is probably more useful than the Primae.

"See, but if you release BPOs for these ships, they lose the purpose as a seasonal reward to people who have been playing the game."

How about they give out cosmetic ships as "seasonal rewards" (Apotheosis anyone?) instead of making these irreplacable ships that have a use in theory but will rarely be used for that purpose for fear of losing it?

@Dblade

unfortunately the ship isn't meant to be useful regardless how ccp describes it. also, a gift doesn't have to be practical. the hull will most likely be reused like the Noctus.

It gets better - you can't tank it if you tried as there are no rig slots and can only fit the sansha codebreaker module.

@asura8
Mostly, "something idiotic" counts as undocking the ship

@asura8 They aren't really a reward. Most of them just sit in people's hangars and you rarely if ever see them out in space. In EVE you lose ships very often, and it makes little sense to have irreplacable ones.

Kgptzac: problem is the noctis isn't what the primae is: noctis is salvage, primae is a PI industrial. They also didn't reuse the zephyr or apotheosis either, or the airbus shuttle. I'd rather they just quit the gifts and make the regular ships instead.

Gaaah: that sucks. You could outfit any t1 frig to hack: if anything the frig's rig slots could be used for rigs to bonus it. Serious though, good luck trying to get it through lowsec to hit a sansha event.

The value of those ships do go up in price as they get rare in game, hell i seen a Primae going for almost 300 million isk.

Really? Because there's been a constant 10+ contracts in jita going for around 10-15mil since it released.

Heck the zephyr is still worthless and that's years old, and actually merits use since sleepers don't shoot it.

ok is it just me, or do these models look crap? i mean they're cool-ish in a weird abstract way, but for some reason they remind me of weird giant lego animals.

as for the lack of BPOs...frankly CCP should put better more useful ships without BPOs. you get a small number of ships each year and that's it. EVE is where the players with the biggest balls and most skill should be the most successful. if you still have your primae but haven't moved it in a couple months or whatever, ideally you should look for a new MMO.

@Xilmar Have you ever used one of them? They have no defenses and aren't even possible to tank. Ships like the primae and zephyr don't even have the agility of other ships so it just takes a single suicide dessie at a gate to alpha them.

Literally, someone bored willing to lose a million ISK could destroy these ships, and they do nothing that a normal frig or industrial couldn't. Most of them can't even mount weapons. They are cool in looks but there's no reason why they should be one time only gifts. Balls has nothing to do with it-you can't really enjoy the gift the way it is.

So far there hasn't been a gift ship that wasn't completely useless and personally I think it's a bit of a shame because I think they look pretty cool.

However the Primae hull did become a real ingame ship with uses, so I'm going to hold off judgement on this one for a while.

You guys keep your damn ships, when Dust comes out I will fight for planets on the ground for you! For lots of ISK that is. :)
