I feel like I have been "tricked" enough by WoW. All of my friends say how awesome it is and how I will love the new expansion or changes and I really enjoy it for about 5-7 days and then I realize that nothing has changed and everything is the same but re-skinned and prettied up with a bow. I have felt like Charlie Brown with the football. So I think I will pass this time.

Im coming back to see the improvements of the world etc plus graphics.

I'm excited! :) What Blizzard has done is more than just a simple "re-skin"; all of the zones are now different in looks and questing, and all of the classes play differently. For instance, I was never a fan of the Warrior class, but after the revamp I've been having so much fun hacking away at things that it has become one of my absolute favorites.

One thing I do wish they would have done is made more changes to certain zones that have mostly stayed the same (e.g. Elwynn Forest), but to say that all they did was re-skin everything is completely false. Anyone who has played through the new Westfall or Redridge Mountains would know what I'm talking about. That kind of epic story telling is what I have felt has been missing from WoW, and I think Blizzard has nailed it down.

nice try blizzard, i'm still not coming back. if feels good to be clean for an entire year. i know i cant really comment unless i actually play the damn expansion but, i'm not convinced that cataclysm isn't just a glorified re-skin of everything in an effort to rake in even more money without really changing much.

Yea I'm not coming back. No matter what they change the core of the games experience...the apex of the storylines....will still remain locked away in raids.

And no matter what anyone says raids are not easy to manage or to participate in. Especially sense the lingering stench of gear score still remains in that game.

Personally I'd had enough of that....most other MMOs make it easy for players to enjoy all of the story and art that a game has to offer...even grinders like AION.

Nope I'm done with WOW.....I'm done with major plot points being locked away and left only to the 'top 5%' of guilds and players....I'm done with that game for good.

I bought the expansion and applied to my account a month or so ago, but I won't be there for a verrrry long time, if ever. I logged in a few days ago to see Gamon was level 85 and a raid boss, but even that wasn't enough to take the taint off seeing

[Ferocious Butt][Pounding][For the Children]

Again.

The game is cool, it has a lot of ground breaking things, but the community, the players are what ruin the game for me. I am back playing a game I left 2 years ago and happier than ever.

Oh, btw... I am not the (Unverified) you see above me or below me. There is a stupid bug that Joystiq have not been able to solve. I am Jay.

I hear ya! It's also heartbreaking when you log in and hear

"(insert any level raid here) min 5K GS please and Achieve."

...yea....*facepalm*

@ElfLove

Just play on an RP server... The one I'm on is *the worst* progression server in the world - and I never hear any flack about my gearscore. :)

@Rihahn

I did play on an RP sever for a while before I quit and while GS sen't as big over there...the couples/RP/Icky Vent PDA drama was just as bad.

...if not worse....

...ugh...

"And it's a fun themepark romp. It pretends to be nothing more or less."

I re-subbed just because of this factor. I need about a 3-4 hour block to play my favorite ffa pvp game and feel like I had a productive and fun play session. But those kinds of blocks of time are very rare for me these days.

Knowing I can jump into WoW for an hour or two and have fun when I just want to relax after a day of work is attractive.

I have never been into raiding, but I can level a new Goblin and a Troll druid. I can run heroics and do battle grounds.

I might even roll a paladin or a Worgen as much as I've always hated the Alliance. I must be mellowing with age.

It's all just for the fun of it. What a concept.

I wasn't planning to go back, but I'll be buying the expansion tonight at Best Buy to play with my significant other.

He recently started playing again, and he refuses to play any other MMO (he "doesn't want to start all over again"), so this will be the game I play with him. He doesn't always have a lot of time to play with his tons-of-overtime work schedule, so this fits our needs.

But I expect we'll get frustrated again within a few months of the expansion like we did the last expansion. We'll see.

If you are sick of the genre, cataclysm will do little to make you happy. However, if you are mostly just sick and tired of all the fail, cataclysm is a breath of fresh air.

The game from 1 to 60 is easily worth the subscription. I have never seen such a story so well told. Compared to all other mmos out there, the quest / story is easily the best. I kid you not.

Now, if you want refreshing game play, you will be disappointed. They are sticking with the same formula. But it works for me, so I will be playing.

Insofar as the new character experience, I expect that the game will do very well. Newly created characters and new players entering the game for the first time should have a great game ahead of them.

But the core of the game isn't changing. They've given us new toys to play with, made more interesting and involved talent trees, shaved down the fluff and beefed up the meat, but the game is still World of Warcraft. There are people who left because they got tired of what went WRONG with the game, and there are people who left because they got tired of what went RIGHT with the game.

Cataclysm will do a lot to draw in those who fit into the former category. It will only be a month or two worth of entertainment to those who fit into the latter.

Are people still playing this game? I don't see anything interesting - they continue to dumb the game down.

I will probably come back for a while... but not initially. I will wait until after the cataclysm stuff has died down, and there aren't 10,000 worgen running around and then most likely come back and create a new toon. If I'm going to play wow again, I'm playing from the beginning.

However, the only thing that would stop me are the two main things I didn't like about it... one) the graphics, though stylish in their own right, are not a style I liked much, and two) if in order to find groups for endgame dungeons I have to run the same ones over and over and over and over again until I can't stand it anymore and three) the community is a bunch of chuck norris touting immature kids. The reason why PUG's are so bad is you have a solid chance of getting an immature/epeening kid in your group... if the community was more mature, pug's wouldn't be that bad.

Sadly, it looks like these things are still the same... so I'm not sure I'll come back... but I still might for nostalgia.

I loved World of Warcraft story, but there is only so much you can do before the game gets old. Once you run out of quests, it is so hard to get into those final few raid dungeons. They sit there and taunt you, and yet you continue grinding achievements and points in hopes you may have a chance to finally see them one day.

My brother asked me if I was resisting the urge to come back to World of Warcraft. I told him that I had looked past WoW and was looking forward to other games like Old Republic or Guild Wars 2. In the end, I will play whatever my friends play.

Oh well, launch time, finally. I can tell it (or at least something) launched because all of a sudden it was impossible to log in.

I suppose that classes as some sort of success for Blizzard.

Not sure about for the players though...

I havent played for a year or two but will be giving it another try, but not for another couple of months until the rush dies down (by that time Rift and DCUO may be released so second thoughts maybe). I am excited to try it out as I only left due to time constraints and boredom seeing the same content over and over but I have a feeling that I am looking back at the game with rose tinted glasses and when I do return all the old negatives will come to surface and I may not stay. Sometimes the grass IS greener on the side!
