The Daily Grind: Would you join a Massively Guild?

Guilds and groups spawning from website communities is nothing new, and here at Massively we've created a number of groups for our readers to join. To start with, there's the Massively Mob Steam group that readers can join to get updates on events. Long-time writer and Community Manager Rubi Bayer also runs the Massively Overpowered guild in Guild Wars and the OnedAwesome guild in Dungeons and Dragons Online. For our Choose My Adventure series, fans even set up groups for Fallen Earth and Lord of the Rings Online.

Most recently, we started the Massively Mob corporation in EVE Online, a small group intent on giving newer EVE players a helping hand and older players a group to mentor. Almost 100 readers have joined so far, and a flood of players have been hanging out in the official "Massively" channel to lend a hand.

A good guild or group can make an MMO much more enjoyable than going it alone. A Massively guild comes with the added advantage of playing with people who write guides and articles on your favourite MMO, not to mention the inevitable events and articles about the guild's in-game shenanigans. Some of the Massively crew have been considering starting more groups in popular MMOs, including a potential new Lord of the Rings Online kinship if there's enough interest. Of course I would but the only thing I think is lacking is the competitiveness of it and when I think of your guild I think of casual.

I've subbed and unsubbed from EVE a few times without it ever "sticking". I think a Massively corp is exactly the thing I need to finally get the most out of EVE.

Just as soon as Cataclysm starts to get stale… :)

Been playing for 3 wks since f2p. didnt plan to stay but now im hooked, purchased expansion and now ready to join a kinship.

For anyone looking to join a Massively guild in LotRO, the original one from the Choose my Adventure series is still up and running. According to my.lotro Capeo is the leader of the kinship at the moment. Kinship name is Massive Hobbits on Brandywine server.

Im with Doba on this, I would probably put an alt in for when i want to just chill/craft etc, but let's be honest, it can't really be a content clearing raid guild, so most of my time would be spent in whatever other guild my main is in which *is* a content clearing raid guild.

But yeah i would deffo have a secret alt in a Massively guild so i can run away when ever anything dramatic happens or I don't have long to play.

I've been in the Massively eve channel, and it is a really good place to hang out and give/ask for help

If there was a Massively Guild for Star Trek Online I would join that.

But most the time I create my own guild or join a friends.

Is there any plan for a Massively Fallen Earth guild?

Having been accepted into the EvE corp early on, i've had a blast of a time already. Made a bunch of new friends and completed somethings i had no chance of doing solo.

I'm in the Guild Wars MVOP Guild, I hang out in Massively's EVE Channel, and I'd certainly join a LOTRO Kinship. Good times.

I plan to join Massively guilds in the games I play: DDO, LoTRO, GW. My monk in DDO isn't in a guild now, and I've got spare slots and new alts in LoTRO I'd like to join to a Massively kinship. I think it would be a ton of fun to do it!

I'd definetly join, but since I live in Europe, timezones are a bit of an obstacle.

No, because it would be bound to be on US timezones. The more Massively does organised stuff, the less I feel connected with the site.

@copperbird I live in the UK, myself. I can't speak for the other groups Massively does run or is planning to run, but the EVE corp does things mostly in the european evening time as this also overlaps with the early US timezone. Events will tend to be organised within that time range so both can participate.

I've wanted to, but timezones are a massive problem. US and UK can just about work out now and then, but Oceanic GMT+8 time? Just doesn't work.

With significant sleep deprivation and weekend gaming, I've managed to coincide with US EST or worst, PST. UK times are hopeless. Hell, I've tried Aussie guilds on GMT+11 and the three hours difference doesn't work either. Events are set too early to participate.

Best of all, I don't like much of the GMT+8 community either. So solo, with people wandering by, is what I end up doing. :)

If you guys show up on Riddermark server, count me in.

If y'all decide to make a new kinship for LotRO, I would definitely put an alt in there. I highly recommend the Imladris server, we're great fun! =P
