The Daily Grind: Do you make ugly characters?

@KvanCetre Me too. Why is that? I have like 1/3 'normal' looking, 1/3 what I think are ugly/dumb looking just because of the race (usually the short ones like dwarves or gnomes), and 1/3 old, who are always my favorite.

Same here. If I do make an attractive character, I try to make them realistically attractive. Person-on-the-street attractive, not "Hollywood plain."

My troll main and orc rogue in WoW were both "ugly" to just about everyone but me (although I occasionally got compliments from people who thought they looked cool). I just didn't care for the one or two pretty faces everyone else used, and thought the faces I picked for them were attractive in their own way and had a lot of personality.

And sometimes I'm trying to be realistic because of the class. No matter what game, my melee females all have very short hair and broad shoulders. Who wants to try and get blood and guts out of their hair? And how can anyone with a tiny frame swing an axe effectively?

My priest is an older lady with grey hair and many wrinkles, but she looks like someone I would want to heal me, not one of these toons who look like they would be more interested in their next sparkly pony! (No offense sparkly pony people).

I'm glad your political correctness wasn't allowed to be shoved down everyone's throat here, as too often happens elsewhere. While I, myself prefer a woman with some curves and some sizable tits, today's society generally finds (reasonably) skinny women to be the norm for what most people find attractive. That is nobody's fault in particular, and least of all the bloggers at Massively. Pointing it out the way it is and having people detached from reality complaining about it because they just can't handle ANYTHING life throws at them without doing so, doesn't change that reality.

I actually feel bad for people like you. It must really be a drag to live your life among this whole HUMANITY situation going on, where people don't always get their way or say or do the nicest things to one another. Maybe you should be institutionalized so that you may be in a setting which better suits you - it seams that real life is too harsh for you.

Keep in mind that a fat Storm Trooper isn't really even possible as all of them were clones, and because their armor generally has a sleek look, it is safe to call a fat Storm Trooper "ugly", because he looks damned ridiculous and completely un-menacing with a beer gut. I feel it is a huge stretch to assume that because a fat Storm Trooper was accused of being the poster boy for ugly in this one particular case, if they had used a person with red hair and an ugly face, they would have some angry PC gingers swarming the site with rabies.

If it had been a midget, they would be felled beneath a sea of angry internet munchkins. The fact is that people who are so politically correct as to let everything in life that is unfair offend them, eventually come to the point where the lines are blurred and they become offended by jokes, suggestions and other completely unimportant things - and it really needs to stop. At some point, I think people are going to grow just about sick of grown-ass adults complaining and stomping their feet like a bunch of toddlers because life handed them a lemon (or in many cases, a tennis ball that they were stupid enough to perceive as a lemon). I believe I speak for any intelligent people on Massively when I say : QQ, good sir/miss.

@Snichy If you don't like us deleting posts that attack others, then go somewhere else.

After the clone wars ended, most stormtroopers were not clones. This is a common misconception.
