If you are going to buy a new hard drive this holiday stay away from the Seagate Barracuda's, internals and externals ("Expansion" model). The failure rate is ridiculous ("Click of death"). Probably why they keep getting cheaper and cheaper and ALWAYS on sale. It's criminal that Seagate are still selling these drive knowing how defective the design is, especially since this have been going on for over a year now.

I would honestly stay away from Seagate all together to play it safe. I picked up 3 of these drives and they all failed, one within the first week, another the second and the other within the month. If it fails past the 30 day time your can return it you are pretty much stuck with paper weights as Seagate will RMA your drive but just send you the same defective refurbished model which will most likely fail again and have you RMA'ing that. Buyer beware.

I've been thinking about starting my music collection to play during game play, I will be looking through my bookmark of youtube songs as to what to get. I already downloaded 2 from the promotion listed and will be looking forward to building a size able play list.

I'm not sure if I want to touch World of Warcraft, I played a demo back in September 06 and wasn't feeling pulled in then and haven't had an urge for it since then. So Thank you blizzard for finally cutting down the price on your standalone and two expansion packs, but not thank you.

Seagate drives have had click of death since the 15MB (yes megabyte) drives in the mid 1980s.

I learnt almost 30 years never to trust that brand after losing a drive. Over the years as a computer technician I have seen so many people catch the same problem in every single Seagate model ever made.

Strangly the best solution to the click of death and their other issue, sticktion, is to grab a very very large hammer and hit the drive - hard as you can. Sure you don't get your data back but there is pleasure in the act.
