Man, so much bitching and ignorance.... Why does everyone think that because they are overhauling the site and adopting a .joystiq.com correlate to also changing to it's design layout? WOW.com switched over... was it forced to use a white background? No. From what I assume, Massively is going to make the site more user friendly and fix the damn comment system that is the bane of the site.

I also would like to add, I think the addition of forums 'might' be cool. Maybe it will give people a place to vent and in turn clean up the comments sections.

Oh no, futureshock!

Ok, I eat my words... wtf? This is exactly the joystiq layout. I hope the site gains some sort of identity by the morning.

BTW, I also browse in full screen, my pupils are the size of pin heads!

Most of the Massively crew is pretty talented. You folks deserve a new updated website. I have always felt the antiseptic, plain nature of the current website was not in keeping with the status of some of you, wondering if in fact your bosses simply didnt care about the job you do.

Checked out the new look. Congrats on the redesign.

I'd suggest maybe a less harsh background, though. That sucker reminds me of Sera's GW elementalist. I think they are both burned into my retinas forever. ;)

@Tanek

Oh god my eyes! So bright! Memories of Guild Wars are coming back to me!

But, on the serious side, I agree with Tanek. For the sake of browsing, the white is really too much. I'd like the tan and black just so my eyes don't cry when reading the news.

Well I will say that its going to be the same three stages I had with Joystiq
First I won't like it
Then I will begrudgingly accept it
And Finally It will fell like this is how it always was.

Until the next cycle of change occurs.
So congrats on the new look :)

People will warm up to it eventually.

I am very disappointed with this change for two reasons:

1) I hate Joystiq's new layout. The super bring white background is horrible. The super bright white is just too much, everything else is fine. Hopefully you guys have some shade or some type of color on the background.

2) Now Massively looks just like Joystiq, why? Why not be unique? I personally think it was better when I knew I was on Joystiq and when I knew I was on Massively. Uniqueness is good.

But I can bear with the changes as long as you guys change the super bright white. It is annoying.

Still love Massively though.

Finally, a decent commenting system. That's all I care about.

Great upgrades. :) And finally got the name I've wanted, instead of just "TheExplorer" :)

I like the new commenting system, and I like the new layout. Please change the background away from white, maybe an off white or a tan-ish color or something just so it doesn't hurt the eyes please. The dark color worked too, if thats still an option.

I for one am glad of the change. The old system was horrid. Thank you massively.

Thumbs up. I like the cleaner layout and the improved comment system. I'm not so keen on the background color, as its a little too bright and tends to wash out comment text, especially if it's been downvoted even slightly. Other than that it seems fine.

I really am not liking the all white background. Talk about painful on the eyes.

I think if it doesn't change to something other to eye-searing white, I'm going to dig into Joystiq's greasemonkey scripts to include Massively.

Funny thing about all this is, hardly anyone liked the white background on Joystiq either, and yet, it's still there. So all you people trying to defend the layout right now... don't get your hopes up. This is probably it.

What the hell. I was forced to take a usability class when I was in my web design major, do they not require it anymore? Clean layouts do not have to mean sterile. And it is definitely possible to do high contrast without blinding the rest of us.
