Instead of getting upset be proactive and work around the problem like I did, the addon for Firefox and the code I posted makes the site a whole lot nicer to read. You can keep putting in your comments about the layout in the mean time do what I did and adjust.

Overall I think this is an improvement. I have not seen the finished product so you may be editing a few things from this point forward.

In case you are taking into considering the feedback of your readers I would like to give my two cents:

1/ As many people have said the background is much too bright. I honestly feel my eyes starting to burn after reading articles here for the last hour. The previous colors were absolutely perfect. I think you should definitely revert back to the previous color scheme or at least make them less bright.

2/ I enjoyed how you had the "Massively Staff" listed before. I have a few writers that I really enjoy and locating them by their name was extremely easy before. I would really enjoy if you listed the names at the home page again so that I can just hit massively.com and then scan through articles by the writers that I most frequently read here. It took me quite a few clicks to locate what I was looking for when hunting for my favorite columns

3/ I also think that "www.massively.com" was a great domain name & it should be reverted back to being branded as such. Having "Massively by Joystiq" as your logo is fine enough for recognition. I don't see why you have to tag on the .joystiq into the domain name? I really think that is a step backwards.

Beyond these suggestions I think that the updated look is much cleaner. The new comment & reply section is wonderful as well. I look forward to seeing how this develops & I am reserving judgment for the final product.

The force is with you Massively! Do us proud!

How can I change my password? If I go to my profile it's just a list of my comments with no options to edit my profile that I can see.

Strange, the options are appearing now. For the past few minutes there were no options to see, and I waited and re-visited the profile page variously over several minutes, I guess it must just have been sluggish or bugged. Anyway, I now have the option to change my password so I'll give it a try.

Still hate the white screen, however, and the idea of changing my password from the default is so that I can leave the site and not be concerned about my profile security being weak based on a default password.

I very much regret the intransigence of the site owners over this change, properly handled a good site could have been made excellent, instead it's become an awful one. Big shame, what a waste of the journalistic talent here.

My account on here never seemed to work correctly before the update, so consider this post a test to see how well the new one works. My account name should say FeendRendor in all places, yet it used to show up as Matt.Rodgers2 (as it currently does on my profile page. Is there any way to change that?)

Anyway, overall I prefer Joystiq's system of comments to Massively's old one, although I still find it rather unreliable in some ways. I do wish there were more visual variety, however. I'm a huge fan of white space in general, and the current look works fine near the top while the side bar is still in view, but once you get down to comments the look just seems to be endless white with one long text block on it. I'm not sure what exactly would work better, but design-wise there are plenty of options that I'm sure your site engineers could tinker with.

@FeendRendor Okay, so my correct name (FeendRendor) posts on here, but when I visit my profile it shows something different. Can anyone tell me why and direct me to whomever I need to speak with to get this fixed?

The ability to upload and change my icon has recently (read: some time in between the first major layout change and the latest update) disappeared from my profile management page.

That being said, the profile page has been shown in only text (no colour, graphics or images) since the update. This is using my Samsung Galaxy S.
