Ugh. Change for the sake of change. Never good.

And by "look more stylish", I really hope you don't mean "look like the Joystiq main site", which is extremely hard on the eyes, unlike the current Massively.

Oh, and the comment system? Already mega-easy to login and use. Probably the easiest I've ever seen for a blog that allows commenting.

It's definitely not change for the sake of change. We've needed some work on the backend of the site for a long time, and those of you who've written in about our comment system and registration know that we've needed work on the frontend as well. This is a major upgrade for us on all counts!

I open this tab an hour or two ago and get to reading it, then I post a comment about how DUMB this change is and it kicks me out and I have to reload to find the "new" Massively.

First WoW.com was replaced for some STUPID aol crap and now this. I refuse to type out wow.joy etc, and I will refuse to type out massively.joy. Why you can't have "massively.com" and "wow.com" redirect to their respective sites, I will never know. Owning a URL costs what, five bucks a year?!

Why don't you guys change Autoblog.com to autoblog.wow.joystiq.massively.com for crying out loud? It would be just as stupid.

@Brianna Royce I personally love it, and agree you guys needed some stuff done. Great work. Looks nice. One problem I am having so far though is, when using i.massively.com it shows up, then I click an article and it goes to i.joystiq.com Figure this will be fixed soon, but just wondering because of the domain transfer what will happen.

"We'll get a new URL too -- massively.joystiq.com .... [That we're a part of the Joystick network is] just going to be a bit more obvious now."

Why? What a silly and confusing change. I don't care who 'owns' massively any more than any other company. I don't want to be redirected to a subdomain.

Poor decision. Hopefully you retract it just as Blizzard did with the real name fiasco.

You're on drugs if you think the old comment system was even remotely acceptable. It was dire beyond belief, worst I've seen since the 90's.

If you're using Chrome, try https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/jbmkekhehjedonbhoikhhkmlapalklgn

It's a handly little extension that lets you set the background, text and link colours for either a specific page, domain or globally.

@GumbyJD

I hate the Joystiq layout, I hate the joysiq comment system, everything floating on this hype rwhite background is giving me a headache.

... I really think you guys should have asked how people would like to see the site remodeled?

now I hate how Massively is laidout. please don't also butcher Big Download.

My eyes hurt. I love the sites that let you change the theme and it remembers when you're logged in. If this does not change, I just might have to Grease monkey you dark again, and that's never 100% =-[

Also, on a more environmentally friendly level, the previous sight used less light on the monitor, i.e. less power, so the previous site was more environmentally friendly :P

Wow, what a setback, or so it seems to me. You're going from your own prominence with "sister sites" to just a blog on Joystiq? That seems like a serious downward step. Massively.com was great, like MMORPG.com for a URL, no confusion what you were about. Honestly, joystiq almost makes me think it's a site that sells sexual toys and novelties... aka joystiqs. As a subdomain of joystiq.com... why?

A new comment system would be great, like you said is coming.

Anyway, I hope this change suits this site well, and its readers like me. *crosses fingers*

Nah, our relationship isn't really changing. Joystiq is still our sister site. So is WoW Insider. The network's just tightening up a bit, and we're getting a new site look to show it off.

The subdomain is meant to show our relationship to Joystiq in a more public way. The Massively-only links will work too.

Seriously, that part isn't a big deal. We're more worried about broken links and image wonkiness while the tinkerers tinker. :D

Yeah, totally agreeing with you - being a joystiq sub-domain more or less equals death of identity for massively.com. But I guess it makes AOL type of sense somewhere up in the management.

The look and feel of the site is no more unique "Massively", it's just another Joystiq blog among many others... meh. And on that topic, the Joystiq proper is not very easy on eyes, the colour picks/contrast is horrible and too much stuff is "happening" in the site design, it makes it very hard to actually concentrate on reading the articles not to mention it's hard to find comments because they're linked from the article header at the top. Quite frankly, the designer of the site should take some basic usability classes.

On the bright side perhaps the comment system is getting a rehaul as well and maybe the profiles will actually work - but - then again it's probably still based on the horribly broken Blogsmith software...

Overall, not positive move, but I guess time will tell... - Just in case, anyone got links to other good MMO news/discussion sites out there?
