Sharpen those claws and prepare to throw down with the Skaven: Warhammer Online's 1.4 patch, The Verminous Horde, hits the live servers today!
WAR's 1.4 update includes a wide range of additions and improvements, although the highlight is the ability to play as one of the four new Skaven classes in RvR lakes. Other changes include a revamp of Open RvR mechanics, a Skaven-themed dungeon, a reworking of Renown Abilities and a Barber Surgeon who's anxious to give you a complete makeover.
Patch 1.4 also marks the addition of two RvR Packs to the controversial EA Store. The Progression pack adds 20 more RvR levels (bringing the cap to 100) in addition to faster leveling and more gear. For fluffaholics, the Personality pack is a bounty of vanity pets, mounts and dyes that help you make a dashing first impression.
Head on over to Warhammer Online to read the full 1.4 patch notes!

Packs are not the future of MMOs. SWTOR will be the next pack if ppl fall for this. This small PATCH (not pack) is a way for dying subscription game to force more money out of the few subscribers that are left - leaving those that dont having very little chance if any of enjoying the longterm gameplay. But why on earth should ppl pay for subs and packs in a game that has very little long term developming future in place.
I watched the Q&A last night and I have NEVER seen as unprofessional group of "developers". At least it game me a clear picture on why is not a better product than it is - and why it has absolutly zero future as subbased game - and selling packs to force more money out of ppl.
PPL talk of Alganon as example of bad things for MMO gaming. Well... WAR is doing as bad job if not worse. Its a total disgrace to see a top IP go under with such incredably poor and LOW budget development future.
Again - if you want half a decent SWTOR - then stay the hell away cause packs ( really just minor payed for patches ) are NOT the future of MMOs.

mmm no. small pack releases are the only way to go forward for WAR. As you have said they have low subscriber numbers, so they cannot release a full expansion. The only other option would be to close the game; and no one wants that as it has very good pvp.
I dont see why you think the game is dying though, has anything happened in say the last 3 months that indicates it will close? I know it lost alot of subs / servers along time ago, but I am talking about recently.

@ Deadalon "No future as a sub based game" LOL
It kills you guys that the game is doing well. I don't mean doing well by WoW standards but normal MMO standards. It kills you that we are loving the game and sub numbers are growing. It kills you that these small packs (yes they are packs) are bringing people back in droves! It kills you that this is the best PvP MMO on the market.
F2P will not work for WAR. The game is not going anywhere any time soon so move on, seriously.
You guys can keep hating WAR or come back to it. Or should I say, try it for the first time.

I wouldn't mind the the first pack if I didn't have to buy it to be able to progress through more ranks. As it stands that's pretty lame. Though I'd gladly throw them money for faster levels and gear. Unless that gear is also OP and doesn't have an equivalent tier at that level of use.

I'm going to buy Cata for WoW. IF, I was into WAR instead or could afford both, I would buy the packs. It's the same thing to me.

I just want this game to go F2P.
The way I see it I think they should go F2P, give free accounts access to the capital, keep the first tier free, then charge $5-10 for each other tier.
Then there are the packs, they could add more trophies, maybe add pets or something, whatever. I just want it free cause I can't afford more than one MMO at a time and with Cataclysm coming out.
:( I really like the RvR in this game.

Just let it die, so that they can give the license to a competent developer. Seriously.

Had an absolute blast playing last night. The new Orvr is giving some epic fights, and when there aren't, you're still always fighting SOMEONE.
These packs have made some fantastic changes to the game, I highly encourage anyone to try it out. Accounts that have been inactive for 90 days or more get a free trial to try things out!

The negative comments seem to be coming from people who are basing their views on the game from 2 yrs ago, and obviously haven't played it "ever" or in 2 years.

Tried it out very late last night and it was good fun. Will be interesting to see the impacts on the zerg in prime time.
From the little I experienced last night there were quite a few more smaller group fights going on all over.
Previously, you knew roughly where the enemy were and where they would logically go next. That wasn't the case last night so much. Many groups were surprised by a small band appearing behind them unexpectedly.
I'm reserving judgement on the BO capture mechanic until I've experienced it a little more.

Hopped on last night, and at first I had no idea what was going on amidst the chaos. However, as I got the hang of things, it was really fast-paced. Good stuff.

Mostly good changes and a good pack with the exception of the sad new dye options and the restrictive Skaven "monster-play" feature.
Feels more like one big scenario than open RvR, imo. But it coul turn out to be a hit, overall.

I am dying to try out the Skaven, but not so much that they are limited "Monster-Play" like characters.
I may have to try the free-trial, although I am sure most of my characters are floating in limbo, without an assigned server. :P
"Psychological scars" from game initial game playing, seem to keep people away, at least, that's part of the equation I am coming to when I think about it: It's still hard to give this game a second chance, even if I did initially had fun with it. I guess it's true about any MMO...
