With the recent announcement that players will get a chance to design the next Enterprise, Star Trek Online players might want a chance to go back to basics. This coincides nicely with Cryptic's giving players the option to go as far back to basics as is fictionally possible with the advent of the latest items in the C-Store. The original NX-01 Enterprise as well as the uniforms of the prequel series (and its mirror-universe counterparts) are now available for purchase.
Although the various options are available for purchase individually, players who either can't get enough of the pre-Federation series or enjoy saving money can also purchase a value bundle with all of the uniforms and the ship for just around $15. As it turns out, the ship itself is a Lieutenant-rank ship, meaning that players can start flying it as soon as they start a character. Star Trek Online has quite a bit on its plate for the future, but that doesn't mean you can't put down roots in the past.

Screw the haters, I loved Enterprise...
This NEARLY made me re-sub. The fact that I'd have to resub PLUS pay whatever lame price for the ship.... its sad really.

I too love Enterprise. But in my case it would be buy game + ship. At 15 bucks? Not going to happen. It's a shame really, the sheer naked greed from Cryptic keeps me a mile away from their products but I guess somebody must be buying all this stuff right?

Massively is plugging STO C-store crap now? Seriously? For shame Massively, for shame.

Seriously, this the first c-store plug you've seen? I've actually lost count. Maybe this will motivate people to stop doing business with Cryptic. Ah, who am I kidding. The players will just lap this up, like a cat with a bowl of cream. They (Cryptic/Atari) wouldn't bother if stuff didn't sell.

"pure naked greed"? It's an optional C-store item set. You don't need it to play, and it doesn't really give you anything aside from the ye olde style aesthetics. It's pretty much the definition of a good c-store type item.
I get the "why does massivley tout press releases" sort of question, but I can't see how cryptic doing this is somehow indicative of some sort of out-sized greed. If you don't like it, don't play (or if you're playing, don't buy it)

Pathetic. They really have zero care for the IP they CHOSE to create a game for. They chose to make the game set in the 2409, yet they'll add this garbage to make a quick buck from a handful of players that love taking it from the laughing stock of a "developer". Let me guess, you'll be able to take that over 200 year old ship in the game's timeline and use it at high levels to defeat ships that are extremely advanced to it?
All the lack of costume options for the Klingon faction characters and they have their art team focusing all their efforts on all this C-Store garbage. All their talk of how "they've learned and need to change their image", yet they still continue to do crap like this. They haven't learned anything and their poor excuse of a shadow of NWN game they're making will still be the same Craptic incompetent developing.

Cryptic + Massively = A love made in the heavens.
Massively has been kissing Cryptic's behinds since CO came out. OH LOOK A CASH STORE FROM CRYPTIC "Its the best thing ever!!!"
I do not even need to talk about Cryptic, they are the worst of the worst. They are the bottom of the barrel, the worst scum on the face of this earth. I really do dislike them a lot, well dislike is putting it a little mildly.
Finally, I know I did not have to click on the Cryptic, articles, I rarely do, sometimes I just wish there was a way to filter them out. It would be better for me if I knew that a company like that did not exist. I hoped they would crash and burn and I hoped that other companies would look at Cryptic and go "Lets not become them."

I really don't get the rabid hate for Cryptic or the C-store. All the stuff in the C-Store is fluff and no one has to buy it. STO is not a half bad game and the weekly episodes have been great.

@Hardy Actually a lot of us did bash the warcraft store for pets. There were huge forum posts about it, it was a major deal when first announced. And then when the mount came out... even bigger complaints were heard. Because the mount was starting to cross the boundary, that's why there were all those Blue posts around that time trying to calm everyone down saying "there is a line, we aren't crossing it, don't worry".
You also forget, Blizzard has come out with one pay for mount, and 2 pay for pets with 2 more on the horizon, aka, it's a rarity to even have the option to pay for an in game item. How much junk has C-store thrown at you? Yeah, there's a huge difference. Not to mention, 2 of the mini pets, half the proceeds go to charity. Where's the c-store charity? Oh yeah, they just line their investors pockets.

CCon I was just waiting for you to jump in on this one. As always, you don't dissapoint :)
I simply can't wrap my head around Massively being in the bag for Cryptic. These are good people. A search of Sera's column (you are missed!) would quickly point you to a post in which she writes as to why she left Champions Online. Enough said. This argument is invalid.
STO is not for everyone, but I am sure there are people here that apreciate Ryan's column and enjoy the game. Same with Champions. I just dont't understand why some of the readers here waste the energy to type up over the top RANTS on Cryptic EVERY single time something is mentioned about them.
There are a few game developers I don't necessarily care for, but I don't make it my life purpose to destroy them on the Massively forums EVERY time they are mentioned.
If you don't like it, don't play it. Simple enough for most.

Cryptic gets the most undeserved amount of hate of any developer outside of SOE. Like it or not, the MMO genre is moving forward to hybrid sub + microtransactions business models. Why? Because it makes them more money. Cryptic is greedy? No, they are a business trying to turn a profit. Just like Blizzard. Just like Bioware. Just like Valve. Just like any developer that can somehow do no wrong.
If you want to blame anyone, blame Bethesda and their infamous Horse Armor. They tested the waters, and it made them rich. Now everyone else wants in.

Actually, the reason people bash Cryptic is because their games are not good, yet they continue to make more games with the exact same recipe. Now they've taken the Star Trek IP and basically pissed all over it by grafting it onto their shallow-as-heck game engine. Another one bites the dust, I guess. No wonder Champions Online went F2P.... people aren't as willing to pay for garbage as they used to be.
