Yep, I like the sound of almost all of it, I'm just worried by all this talk of "recipes". I hope it's not a totally fixed-recipe system like WoW, where you pick a recipe, make it, and the result will always be identical. Needs some customization, decision making, and dare I say it, an element of randomness, like in Atlantica with its random pluses, or LOTRO with its crit-crafts.

nice, but Im missing one huge question..
In PvP, is 8v8 *max* players in one warzone? Or there will be any warzones for greater number of players?

Warzones are just battlegrounds, nothing new there really.

Reminds me a lot of how crafting is supposed to be in The Agency

Thanks for the interview! All the other news and interviews scared me that Crafting wouldn't be "special" - only Massively's alleviated those fears. Cheers!

"One of the criticisms of World of Warcraft way back in the day was that [battlegrounds were] an all-or-nothing thing -- if you lost, well, you may as well have not even wasted your half an hour"

?? I thought the major criticism of battlegrounds in WoW was that their reward system gave TOO MUCH to the losers; so much so that it was more rewarding to lose quickly than win slowly, providing massive encouragement to afk leechers, and for losing teams to just give up and "let them win".

I don't believe I've ever heard anyone complain that WoW battlegrounds were not rewarding enough for the losing team.

The key part of that statement is 'back in the day'.

If you're talking back BACK in the day, it was more like:

Lose a BG? Get nothing.

Win a BG? Get nothing.

Win 100 BGs? Still get nothing.

Win BGs non-stop, 16 hours a day, seven days a week, for a couple of months? Get the best epic weapons in the game.

This is some good news on the crafting front. It will give more purpose to living in your spaceship

I think a cool pvp battle would be two ships, with actual gun mounts on each, placed with players in control of them shooting at the opposing ship. Then the other aspect, a boarding team that would breach the hull of opposites team ship and disable gun mounts/shields etc so the players on the home ship would increase damage quicker and win the match. Each team would have the ability to leave forces behind as a security reaction team to counter boarding parties from the enemy ship etc.

Lots of aspects to look into such as turtling etc, but I think it would be a neat dynamic in pvp.

The crafting sounds alot like EVE... "Oh I have to log in and task my peons at this time..." with no real work going into it other than gathering the supplies and materials, which is monotonous on its own. I guess I would have to see the actual video... Im on a deployed ship though, so our internet isnt up to the task!

Good questions on crafting helped me have a better understanding of how the system works. Having your companions act more like factories like swg sounds pretty cool. I enjoy crafting in mmos looks like there trying to take the grind out of crafting instead of crafting the same item over and over again its going to be time based.

The game is starting to stir up the MMORPG pot. I wasn't impressed until now. I bet we start getting a lot more updates now.

"I had in mind the dreaded endless Warsong Gulch matches."

It actually sounds exactly like Arathi Basin. The more nodes you control, the faster you win. Only instead of your score constantly going up, your health bar is constantly going down.

Absolutely. I was just throwing (old-school) WSG out to him as an example of a bad BG mechanic I was hoping they'd avoid. Thankfully, it appears they have done so.
