With the Sansha set to descend on EVE Online en masse, a new character creator that is the precursor to Incarna (when all will be blessed with feet), and a plethora of other goodies large and small, Incursion has been garnering a lot of attention from both active and retired capsuleers. According to a dev blog posted today by EVE's Senior Producer, CCP Zulu, the company has made a tough decision about the release date for its eagerly anticipated expansion. Rather than push it out with potential bugs and issues, CCP is opting to split up Incursion into a three-part deployment. The important part is that by doing so, CCP expects to be able to give each particular chunk of the expansion the time it needs to be "excellent."
The first chunk, which will release on November 30th, offers a host of requested and needed tweaks. While CCP isn't willing to confirm the exact list of features at this time, the list of potentials is expansive, including changes to rockets, T2 ammo, 80 new storyline missions, faction ships' addition to the market, and more. From there, the second patch will be released in December and will contain wonders that "only Santa knows." January 2011 is when the company plans to release the third chunk, which should deliver Incursion's new character creation tool to the masses. If you're curious about more details on the reasons for the change in deployment dates as well as a bigger listing of all the things to come, pop on over to the EVE Online site and check out the devblog.

Do you have some secret list?, because the dev blog only lists 14 potential additions which is hardly expansive.

It's the right way to do it. I'm not sure CCP could handle too many more broken content deployments.

Well they know that they will not be going back to fix any of these new features for several years, so they have to get them as close to "right" as they can on the first pass =)

Well that stinks but whatareyagonnado? Hopefully each piece of the expansion will actually work.
On another note, that is a godawful headline, Massively. Someone needs to start actually looking at these posts to make sure they don't read like low-rent ad copy.
How about "CCP delaying Incursion for polishing," which allows you stay positive without sounding like a PR blog for the MMO industry.

This may well be a rumor (or something already implemented and I'm just behind the times), but Incarna garnered my interest in EVE again, and I may be returning soon, so I'm curious to know:
Is this next expansion removing the Learning skills?

Definitely not this expansion, unfortunately :(
There is so much controversy over that; how to remedy it, how to harden the f*** up and just do the learning skills, blah blah blah. I personally wish they would do away with them as my main has to go from IV to V on the second tier ones, which does not look all the appealing. :-/
Also, to add one other note... I REALLY wish they would just implement a minor fix for the god blessing click-fest that PI is, something that would reset the harvesters with 5-10 clicks instead of 100 per day would be the most wanted change from this camp.

Thanks, MMO. I'll still likely come back with a fresh new character, I just know how I'll be spending the first couple weeks...

While I am all for ensuring that bugs don't make it onto the live servers, I'm really sad that the new shiny salvage ship will be delayed. As minor as that is to the entire list of features that they are adding, that is pretty much the only thing I was looking forward to that would have a direct impact on my personal game play.
I hate for my post to have such a negative slant, but I am of the opinion that released content generally contains bugs *no matter what*, so why not drop in some of the new items/equipment without adding all the back end stuff, such as the potentially bug causing maths?
I'm sure there is a very good answer to that question, but I guess the thought that is screaming at the fore front of my brain is BAAAWWHH I WANT MY NEW SHINY NOW :-D

I wish they would delay the release of Incursion until all the other half-baked features in Eve are completed. They could start with finishing faction warfare...

hey man, trolls will be trolls, but this all sounds fine to me. honestly, everyone's a critic (and an armchair game developer).
