I'm looking foward to trying this out and like many players I have some concerns that these changes could potentially impact the game in a negative way

We don't have a way of knowing the actual impact for some time.

Some of my concerns are:

* Eve players may not participate with this and see it as an annoyance. This happens with a number of in game additions. If so we could just see players moving systems instead of participating in events.

* This could really drive out solo players or smaller corps who can't field a fleet. This could leave them stuck feeling there isn't much point to logging in if they can't play as normal and if they don't have real options to participate in the event.

* Ganking and Griefing are already seen as problems by PvE focused players and this seems to run the risk of just making it worse. If we see high losses to gankers, particularly on high-end ships, during these events it will discourage participation.

In the end there's no real way to know but to try it out but I can see some real potential pitfalls with these changes.

This will end up to be yet another unfinished half-done "feature" on a very very long list of things that are going to "serve as a base for new cool stuff"... that no one from the dev team touches in years. Just like PI, SOV2.0, COSMOS, Exploration, etc. etc.

Umm PI is still getting updates, exploration IMO is done (sure you could improve it, you could improve anything, but its awesome as is not to mention the current system is a complete revamp of the original...), the COSMOS missions are there and do exactly what they were meant to, SOV2.0 seems to be breaking up some of the larger nullsec blocs just like it was intended to (yeah it could be improved and I'm sure it will, that it IS SOV2.0 is evidence of the fact CCP has vastly changed SOV since EVE's launch).

Exploration though... I hope you are just trolling because how could you even claim exploration is a half baked feature. Apocrypha alone gave us more exploration content than one could ever hope for. Even if you don't enter WH space, there are tons of anomalies, radar/mag and plexes to find in kspace. If you're talking about the actual interfacing for probes, well its not my fault if you can't get sigs to 100% in a few minutes like everyone else.

I like how you mentioned things that have been updated, completely revamped or more or less completed. Usually when people harp on EVE's unfinished features they bring up factional warfare because that was a utter failure, arguably the red headed step child of EVE.

I know EVE isn't for everyone, but the way people troll EVE articles with BS on this site...

@ rhorle its called fleet finder and already ingame.

Fleet Finder is just an advertising tool. The WoW LFD tool is much more then just advertising. An auto-group tool is more what I was talking about.

This really seems out of place for eve where even in high sec you aren't safe from pvp. Yet they introduce a system that encourages and requires people to form groups or have their entire experience impacted. While it is a way to encourage pve it seems like it will end up being a huge draw for pvp in some spots.

The CSM must have been trolling as well, because this is one of the issues they raised during the last summit.

SOV2.0 didn't even get some of the features advertised back for dominion expansion implemented, like "formalized" space renting. It did not give the results CCP stated that they were aiming for... like reducing larger aliances and making 0.0 space more popular.

Whatever "breaking up of blocks" you see isn't really because SOV changes, more because the 3 big Russian alliances started to do their own stuff.

Exploration... even CCP stated that they wanted to expand it much more back when it released. It's next to useless outside nullsec and wormholes. I hope those new Incursion dungeons will be exploration based, but hey...

Exploration is next to useless outside nullsec and wormholes? What kind of pot have you been smoking lately? Did you not hear of the blog about some guy who made billions just exploring in hisec alone? Seriously dude, do your home work. I'm one of the people who does exploring in hisec as well as everywhere else and the number of people doing as I do are growing as well due to the fact that exploration is BADASS! It's way more emergent than anything form of gameplay in hisec and it also gives you a chance to make tha billion isk you've been looking for all your eve life.

I don't know much about Sov 2.0 and all that but exploration I do know and let me tell ya; its pretty damn good as it is now.

It sounds like with this type of event CCP needs to add their own version of the LFD tool of WoW. A way for players to be added to a group automatically to join for this. A sort of rally call issued by the system that makes you unable to do pvp against those who accept it if you too have already accepted it.

Is it a permanent addition? I thought it was just a short-term 'event'?

wow way to wreck 0.0 warfare so if an area is being invaded, the defender does nothing and the invader cant bring in caps and has to clear the event before being able to move forward, and even then the defend only has to gank the force invading with their cap already in system ..... THX CCP

And the problem is what exactly?

The defender still needs to deal with the invasion as well as the attacker. They won't be able to sit idly by and do nothing. If they are in the sector they will be under constant attack.

If anything it will make defending a sector harder as you have to deal with the Sansha forces as well as any assaults. As the attacker, you can send in cheap suicide ships in to harass the defender... Or just wait until they engage/defeat the "boss" and then mop up.

Reading the (CCP) blog's comments is quite entertaining. Nothing like people QQing about how CCP got emergent gameplay in their emergent gameplay. "Oh noes, we're going to have to defend our sovereign space! That's nevar happened before!"

If only they'd done something like this for the PvE element of Faction Warfare instead of the easily-exploited complexes.

These incursions aren't related to complexes - so I don't see how they are 'easily exploited' not least because they'll be essentially random.

The problem with FW complexes that I was referring to is the one with the timers.

There's also the tracking issue, which is a slightly different matter.

At first glance Incursion's way of acheiving PvE objectives seems to be both fairer and requiring more planning - that's an improvement.
