It's kind of sad that there's so little to talk about with STO that you have to theorize about F2P. One reason I'm not still playing.

"Surprise! I don't know anyone who really saw that coming, and the general reaction appeared to be one of flabbergastation. Our resident CO expert, Patrick Mackey, "never in a million years" saw it coming. So, you know, unexpected."

And we're supposed to take anything you say in the rest of your article seriously?

I know you have to kiss developers' butts so they'll give you interviews and other goodies, but CO was a massive failure from launch and has clearly struggled ever since.

There were also super clear signs - eg. various deals they were offering and things said on forums - that it was heading towards free to play.

Keep this up and you'll come to be known as massively (ridiculous) . com

You know, you should really not generate oppositional hype. Like Nick indirectly said, it makes you look like an ass and Massively look like a fool for letting you write for them. How about talking about the efforts Cryptic has made in shoring up STO. How about talking about how they DON'T want to make STO a F2P title and are generating content that cannot fit into a F2P format? How about hints of sandbox game play potentially on the horizon as hinted at in the mots recent STO ask Cryptic. I guffaw at your house of cards!

I am not saying it won't happen. I am saying they are doing everything to prevent it from happening,

Regarding STO's "Foundry", if STO ever went F2P, i'd suspect the Foundry would indeed be limited to subscribers (or "Gold" members) in terms of creating/sharing missions. On the other hand, I suspect the ability to Play said missions will be open to all.

Such negativity so far... I'm one to imagine that if STO were to make the jump to F2P (and starting off by having CO make the transition first is pretty much the first step in that... I mean, look at Turbine... DDO went F2P, and then after basically polishing that up, then LotRO used the dame formula and also switched over), that they need to go over one big hurdle: CBS. CBS has shown they have a huge vested interest in STO. They really want to protect their property very carefully, and that is completely understandable. So any major restructuring of payment models would need to have their blessing, and that might not be such an easy task.
