Mac users rejoice, you've got another option when it comes to MMORPGs thanks to SOE and Free Realms. While OS X fans have seen their list of available titles grow in recent years, AAA games are still fairly scarce, with World of Warcraft, EverQuest, and Fallen Earth being a few of the more notable exceptions.
Free Realms isn't dumping you on a Mac-segregated server either, but rather the same shards inhabited by the free-to-play title's PC users. With fourteen million registered players, you're bound to find someone to hang out with, so head over to the official website to download the client and get started.
Free Realms features a large virtual world, customizable avatars, and a huge variety of minigames designed to provided hours of safe online entertainment for kids and whole families. Check out Massively's in-depth look at the game for more information.

Good to finally see it, though well after the initial hype. I remember Smed talking about an OS X version since before launch (March 2009).
Also a shame it's using Cider instead of being native. The UI was running really slow on my Mini in OS X, works fine in Windows on the same hardware.

Yeah that is a shame. It's to bad one of the only companies that put out a native version for osx is Blizzard. I wish more would make a native version for osx, but I know this will not happen anytime in the near future.

Correct me if it's changed back, but I was under the impression that Free Realms stopped being free to play almost a year ago, switched to unlimited demo where you can't advance your character past level 5 without paying a monthly subscription?

You are correct, sir. Except characters created before November 2009 do not have those limitations.Since then, all jobs beside Adventurer and Card Duelist are limited to level 5.

I enjoyed this game, until I was banned for four days after my adult friend and I exchanged a few unseemly jokes in private chats, I then discovered that those who run the game monitor everything I do.
All the time.
For no reason.
Shut down my SOE account that day, locked it up, shame too, it was a good game, if damned by SOE.
