While I agree with most of this post, one thing did stick out.

When you mentioned the mad king visit was all about the reward and not the fun, I couldn't help but wonder how many people really consider his visit to be fun at all? To be clear, I'm not talking about the quests since I think adding new quests is always a good idea whenever they can. However, after 6 years of the same event and the same terrible jokes, I can understand why a lot of people are more interested in the rewards than standing in a circle typing emotes and complaining at the tonic users getting in everyone's way.

Now, I wasn't actually there this halloween since the game has become one big preparation for guild wars 2 and I've earned the majority of the rewards already. So, in the unlikely event that the mad king's visit was changed and wasn't the same old jokes and emotes, please consider this post completely pointless.

Forgive me if someone mentioned it and I missed it...

While I agree with you that there is an unpleasant sense of entitlement in the community, and ALSO that the "when is GW2 coming out!?" question has grown tiring.

But I can't agree with your client project analogy, unless we add some wrinkles.

If I told my client that the project would be ready sometime in 2008, and he's getting impatient in NOVEMBER of TWO THOUSAND AND TEN, then I'm not really doing a very good job for him and his impatience is probably warranted. That being said, harassment doesn't improve anybody's pace.

hey i'm pretty much a noob, playing less than 2 years. but i love anet. they do so much for us as players and fans. I saw a lot of complaining, but also saw so many peeps having fun. Those same people that moan and groan can be found in any PvP arena (omg omg omg). Small minded, bitter little dwarves.

so on behalf of the peeps that love these events, the fantastic storylines, the wonderful imagination. THANK YOU Anet staff, you guys rock!!
