First off would like to say ty massively for the key to gain access to the beta of which my main account that got a key in april wasnt able to get in.
Unfortunately I am not all that impressed with the game too bad there wasnt a way to let someone else have my account w/o it being linked to my email.
Maybe their upcoming project Swordsman Online will be the one to break the mold that their games seemed to be molded from.

I've been playing this quite a bit lately and, as skeptical as I was, I have to admit that I've been having a lot of fun. I especially like the kindred starting area and the vampire class.

Don't get me wrong, there's still a bit more polish that the game could use, but overall my first impressions are very positive for this one.

The only thing I will say is that the game is very much like WoW, Warhammer, Aion, and Jade Dynasty had a baby cloned from bits of their DNA. It seems to be working pretty well so far, but some players may not like some of the similarities. I rolled an elf male bard and noticed that when I hit space bar to jump, the jump animations were EXACTLY like the male Blood Elves in WoW, spin and all. Identical. That and there are many sound effects that are straight from WoW. While playing I heard orc male and female grunts, Draenei battle sounds, and undead moans that are ripped straight from Blizz's behemoth. Hopefully this is something that Blizz knows about, and players are okay with, else it could come back to bite Perfect World, which would be a shame since the game shows much promise.

Wow! From the videos I've seen, I only picked up the female human and abomination sounds from WoW. To even copy animation is... not cool. You might not have seen this yet since it unlocks at level 20, but the game even features talent calculators that are eerily similar:

How the creators can describe this game as being groundbreaking and innovative is beyond me.

Looks like the hiring of an actual British actress to do the actual English accent for the voiceover was also Forsaken ... made me wince to hear the phony pronunciation, and I'm not even British!

Actually, no - Warriors and Priests are fairly well-clad in the game. I suppose the well-endowed female Kindred Assassins (the Elves and Humans aren't quite as voluptuous) make for more interesting screenshots, though.

As Brit I can honestly say that when you've heard Dick Van Dyke trying to sound like a cockney nothing else can possibly offend!

I hadn't known anything about the game before this, but having watched the trailer it just seems like a 100% WoW rip-off. Hopefully the gameplay is sufficiently distinctive, but I hardly think the market needs another WoW f2p lookalike.

The market can never have enough F2P games.

Though it would be nice to have a Tabula Rasa type F2P game (Man I wish that game still existed and was F2P) or other Sci-fi, non-fantasy type games but yeah you can never have enough F2P.

1. That accent was truly terrible.

2. The lore looks like a total mess. Talk about generic fantasy. I couldn't have come up with a more bland concept if I'd tried.

3. Vampires...

Whatever happened to creativity? Coming up with your own concepts or even just trying to do something, anything different? It gets me so angry sometimes I just can't help but be negative towards these new crop of games. This maybe an OK WoW clone, it may even have a few new tweaks to the template. I'm just ready for something different and I know a lot of other people are as well. Unfortunately there seems to be almost nothing on the horizon that is anything other than variations on a theme.

I totally agree that you should be original. I mean the best MMO out there WoW didn't steal and ideas what so ever from people like Tolkien or IPs like Warhammer with their toys and board games.....You HAVE to be original to succeed...Totally agree.

And borrowing from something that's successful, that's COMPLETELY unheard of in any industry!

Hardy, you completely missed my point.

Designers and artists are influenced by their piers and what has gone before them, that's obvious and completely natural. That doesn't mean everything they produce needs to be a carbon copy. As much as WoW took ideas from other games, it had its own voice, its own ways of doing things which were unique to WoW at the time. It got a lot of things right, mostly because it learnt from its predecessors, there is nothing wrong with that. However WoW was definitely NOT a clone of anything before it.

Now, can an MMO be successful by cloning WoW? Yes, yes it can. Does that mean all MMOs should be WoW clones? Hell no! That my friend is why I posted and what my point was. All we are getting at the moment are WoW clones, because WoW is 'successful'. That doesn't mean it should be the only template in the MMO genre.

Blizzard took Warhammer's IP and implemented it as an MMO by incorporating all the best parts of EQ, AC and the other MMO's of the day :)!

Blizzard can be praised for many things, not least the polish which they apply to their games, but originality isn't their strong point.

Maybe these games should stop trying to copy WoW and copy what WoW copied.

Not to mention PW's Battle of Immortals 2, just like Diablo 3 right down to the logo o___o

Although last I've heard, they have changed BoI 2 into an entirely new game. Still looks like Diablo 3 though, lol. All they're missing now is a StarCraft-esque universe.

The game looks pretty generic and heavy cash shop dependant for now. Tried it only for 2-3 hours though, but from my experience in F2P... yeah.
