It's the perfect time of year to announce a horror-themed MMO, so we're not surprised that at least one studio has stepped up to do so. SEE Virtual Worlds, the same company that's working on Planet Michael (which may or may not still have you giggling sporadically), is turning the world of Van Helsing into a MMO with the blessing of Universal Studios.
With eight decades of movie monsters under its belt, Universal Studios is not lacking for iconic ghoulies and gremlins: The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, the Mummy, Dracula and the Creature from the Black Lagoon have frightened generations of children and lingered in the imaginations of millions more. In the game, players will step into the role of a Van Helsing-type figure who's tasked with taking down the hairiest, slimiest and most bitey of them all.
Both Planet Michael and the Universal Monsters MMO will exist within Entropia Universe's domain, which houses virtual worlds and utilizes a real-world cash exchange economy. You can read the full Hollywood Reporter article here.

Sure why not. Everything's an MMO these days.
Let's have a Supermarket Sweeps MMO while we're at it.

who the hell pitches these
i could understand it as a single player RPG maybe
but alot of these IP's shouldn't be made into MMO's
If you must have a vampire/werwolf slaying MMO just do it of it's own accord
because you will be able to craft something much much cooler

I'm still waiting for the Strawberry Shortcake MMO. Which would be better than a Jersey Shore MMO, Blizzard.

I can't understand why people are so hostile to the concept of a monster themed MMO like this. Could someone explain?

Its just that MMO's need a decent sized population of players at any given time to be good. The market has increasingly become over-saturated with MMOs that all seem to be half-baked titles with the studios full attention on making money, not pleasing their players. Its not that this is monster themed that has people agitated, its that its yet another MMO based off of a loose niche market, with only money-making reasons as to its creation.

I seemed to recall a "quasi-Indian Jones-ish/Raiders of the Lost Ark" MMO being made by somebody. (How's that for being vague?!)
Anyways, the concept for that MMO sounds a lot more entertaining than this one, imo. This one sounds cheesy and half-baked. And for a "horror/spooky MMO", The Secret World sounds like a much better bet.
Besides, once I heard it'd be part of Entropia Universe, that pretty much was the nail in the proverbial coffin for me. : /

Well, if it is a good game..."they will come".
Otherwise, like many such games, they will go back to wherever they came from (like WoW).
The concept may seem "half-baked" but if it is a fun game, more power to them.

I hate to make comments on games which hasn't come out yet but this sounds like a very limited world.
Isn't White Wolf making an MMO on the same concept?
