Wow, that's quite the conclusion drawn from 2 vague paragraphs.

Because Bioware is known for their sprawling non-linear sandbox RPGs right?

Always a turd in the punchbowl.

So, because I wanted something more from such an auspicious and well developed fictional universe than a game on rails rail and because I expected Bioware to push themselves creatively I am to only be down-voted and called names?

I expressed my desire and sadness. That is all.

You expressed sarcasm and derision. Now there's nothing wrong with that, but honestly, being constructive or at least remotely descriptive would be nice.

Going to agree with this.

Its clearly that BW's vision of TOR is limited (from my perspective)
There's is nothing they release that would entice me to buy a MMO in 2011.

I just followed that DCU link and even that game looks more interesting then TOR.
Other then story Bioware seems to be repeating the same features and mistakes that come with it as its predecessors. For a compagny as Bioware thats a shame.

No drama, just commenting on the article.
Everybody acts as if TOR is a sure sell, Bioware does too, as if that worked in the past.

"If you're familiar Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, one of the things that we showed was how the dark side started to corrupt you. Your appearance started to change, your flesh started to age and become more like Palpatine from the movies, and your abilities started to change as well. This also occurs in The Old Republic.""

Cool.

Didn't Palaptine age because of the lighting feedback against Mace Windu? I've never read any of the books but it seems like the movies, no matter how bad, are kind of the final say on lore.

Supposedly the more you use the dark side of The Force, the more it uses you up and burns you out.

Palpatine/Darth Sidieous supposedly did most of his work manipulating people and using his intelect and personality.

When he fought Windu he tried to overpower Windu's ability to withstand the force lightning, using up more and more of himself in a last desperate attempt to survive the fight and win over Anikin at the same time.

How much was him burning himself out and how much was Mace Windu's ability to turn it back on him we don't know, but later he claimed it was all Windu's fault so he could turn the senate against the Jedi

I was never sure if Palpatine really was hurt by Mace Windu or if that was all a ploy to get Ani to cross over to the dark side. Guess I always thought it was more of a case of showing his true face, since he laughs right after Ani "saves" him in such a way that one would think he was never really in danger.

Still no word on what the endgame will be like. Without an endgame, people will lose interest after they level 2-3 classes to the cap.

That gameplay looks so horrible! The dialog portions are great but the combat... ugh.

Nice, actually the gameplay looks pretty solid overall, better than most other MMOs at low levels. My only animation gripe is that their is no stop-run transition animation. You just sort of stop, you don't slightly catch yourself or slow down to a stop. I hope they iron that out in the final product.

I played SWTOR at PAX and absolutely loved it. I cannot WAIT for this game!

The running animation looks terrible - it makes the character look like a hunchback who probably needs to use the force just to stop himself overbalancing and falling flat on his face. The combat animations look like they've been lifted from KOTOR and honestly I was expecting something a bit more fluid than that in an MMO in 2011 (or maybe that's the trend for 2011 - DCUO has fairly stilted animations too).

While TORs presentation looks interesting... I'm becoming more and more glad that I've already picked Rift.

Still, if I have the $ or theres a trial, sure, I'll try TOR :)

DCU looks really neat, but its clearly (to me) more of a ...'massively co-op beatemup' game. Nothing wrong with that imo, but its likely not a game to really 'role play' much in (just as Mass Effect 2 was more of playing out scenarios than playing your own character - which is also fine). The opening area is really cool ... its the music that makes it!... but I hope the rest of the game is as good. I was initially put off by the combat animations in trailers, but in gameplay footage it looks more interesting than TOR (again, its beatemup nature).

I sure hope the repeat offender trolls don't buy the game and foul up the server channel with all of their fecal diatribes.

So I'm a bit confused.... does this mean you can make a 'good' sith or an 'evil' jedi? Or is this solely an appearance thing?
