They're gonna have skiing? Okay, they don't have to worry about a payment model. I'll sell my house to fund this game.

Long time (excited) tribes player here.

Skiing was originally a bug of sorts in tribes 1 where if you jumped repeatedly youd slide down a hill, eventually players figured out if you hit a hill at the right angle from the air and then slide down, youll slide back up and be launched at a greater speed. Thus Skiing was born and became a core game play mechanic, and was officially implemented into Tribes 2.

it cause of skiing that the game became so fast pace, if you did it right, you could zoom across a land scape to your enemies base in seconds, jack the flag and be back in your base in seconds.

Yes. I was being sincere. I was on a competition Clan in Tribes 1. And being a backup flag capper (we duo'd our ski cap routes) I was well-trained on skiing.

If they get skiing right (I preferred T1's) I will be letting my wife know she'll need a backup husband for a while.

yeah, I bought Global Agenda just so I could support them. Would much rather have something done with the franchise than nothing.

I also purchased Global Agenda just to get these guys some $$ and to let them know there is market for MMOFPS's and to support the little guy. Now its not the model I was really looking for as I want a war game like planetside with at least 400 people on a fight. But it was still fun up to lvl 40 and was 10x better then TabulaRasa and I didnt really stay around for the second and 3rd phase of sandstorm...

Global Agenda is on sale right now, less than $15 with a coupon code.

Global Agenda is 30% off! (Plus Grim Reaper Flair!)

I know what you're thinking, "Duke, you so crazy! GA has been 30% off
before today!"

That's when I would say, "I like my padded room and this jacket with
extra long sleeves!"

"Also...have we ever let you stack a coupon code on top of the 30% off
price?!?"

That's right! If you buy from our site store and use a 30% off coupon
code, you'll get the game for less than 15 bucks!

Tell your friends!

Tell your neighbors!

Tell your grandma!
(Don't laugh. Your grandma has wanted to shoot you and your friends
for a long time.)

This is just in time for this week's 1.38 patch where we get a
Halloween-themed raid, consolidated inventory, awesome referral flair,
and challenge matches to support player-driven 4v4 leagues and
ladders!

I love this game and they have an awesome dev team and community.

I don't see how they are going to use the Unreal3 engine for these massive
battles. There is going to be major lag in Tribes. Why didn't they decide to use
Torque or BigWorld Tech?

I guess they are stuck with Unreal cause they don't know any other engine.
Shame

We can’t transform Global Agenda to a large scale battle format but since we liked this concept a lot, we decided to create a new game based on large scale fighting. In order to develop the new game many significant steps had to be taken, including: A significant rewrite to the unreal engine servers to allow for 100+ players to be fighting in the same map, a new UI system that is more efficient, a different implementation of character visuals, a new terrain system, etc. In addition the combat gameplay required many significant changes as well.

This could go either way, honestly. I'm excited for a new Tribes game, but nailing down the skiing/physics will be a battle. I'd really like for them to listen to Tribes players regarding this aspect, and not so much higher level GA players.

Sounds like they do not understand what they are doing. Tribes 2 initially was a major letdown to many Tribes 1 players because of the emphasis on bigger battles, vehicles, and lower skiing speed. Because of the big maps, overpowered vehicles and lower movement speed than in Tribes 1, Tribes 2 in top level competition was sometimes utterly boring and tiresome experience. Especially when compared to Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 Classic (games in which player speeds were only limited by skills of the players). They fact they mention Tribes and Planetside in the same sentence shows me that even Tribes Vengeance was a more promising project than this is.

To be fair, T1 had some issues with ski speeds. The game pretty much became just a contest of who could find the fastest routes. At top speeds flags were near undefendable because of the spinfusor impacts.

I didn't enjoy T2 nearly as much but I felt like the rounds were more balanced.

the skill progression like EVE statement bothers me. sounds like they are still trying to sniff out that subscription money. when devs are more focused on money than gameplay, gameplay usually suffers.

and glad i never bought GA, sounds like its going onto the shelf as far as future content.

You people are talking like Starsiege: Tribes does not exist anymore. The T1 v1.30 servers are still around and kicking.

Tribes Universe will never be Tribes, but it might be fun.

I actually liked the feel of Tribes 2 better than Tribes 1. Tribes 2 felt much more balanced than tribes.
