Forgot to mention. The game looks awesome in, and it just might be the most anticipated MMO of this century. At least I can't wait for it. I'm psyched!!!!

The concept art for this game is really beautiful. They've done a great job in design, at the very least.

Having seen the armor designs here and elsewhere, though, I can already tell I'll be buying plenty of transmutation stones to keep myself in the few pieces of armor in which the female version isn't specifically designed to look cute or sexy instead of intimidating. I guess I should be used to it by now, but GW2's armor designs have some of the most cringe-inducing examples of "and on female characters, it has no pants!" I've ever seen (the actual set of full armor with no ridiculous thigh/breast cutouts was encouraging, though).

I'm cringing here, too. Irem.

But I wouldn't say it's the "most" cringe-inducing armor.

For that, you need to check out TERA.

The armor looks like what "should" have been in Age of Conan, where the women are sexy *and* dangerous, but the armor they have currently is terrible.

They would use their sex appeal as a weapon of distraction or intimidation, rather than "intimidation by looking scary".

I guess it really depends on your opponent though. ;)

@Tom
Yeah, that's true. TERA's armor designs were a huge turnoff for me. Oddly, I have no problem at all with Blade & Soul, which is even worse in terms of impractical armor, but I think that's because in all the screenshots I've seen, -everyone- is running around in skimpy, reality-defying armor, and it seems a lot more like it's just part of the game's atmosphere. It's when a game world takes itself at least somewhat seriously and then decides to see if we can suspend our disbelief long enough to get away with chainmail bikinis that it really irks me.

@Steve
I don't want to play a female character who uses her sexuality as a weapon of intimidation, at least not in this game. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with those characters, when done well, and I've played that kind of character before, but it's the idea that women need to have the boob cutouts to "distract" an opponent rather than making them piss themselves because clearly it's not enough that she's heavily armored and coming at them with a giant sword that makes me roll my eyes. Some "sexy" armor I really like, but when it's always a case of male characters looking like total badasses and female characters looking cute or alluring, it gets old. My least favorite design in GW2 so far is one in which the male version is a long, heavy robe, and the female version is a cutesy dress. Look at Aion: why is my male character going into battle in full armor, while my female character is in a frilly party dress? If the armor sets were designed to give the same impression for both genders in terms of sexiness or scariness or impracticality, I would have no problem with it, especially since a lot of what they're coming up with is pretty damn hot.

I'm a big fan of the female figure and all. No hate on boobies. I just actually find it a lot sexier when my character's armor reflects her personality--be that by wearing skimpy robes or heavy plate--instead of having everything she wears break the fourth wall with a wink-nudge "Hey, we know this is completely unrealistic, but you're probably a straight dude, so here's a little eye candy."

"Pearls to the sows" I would say.
The greater number of "gamer" drawn into the genre the last years will barely be able to appreciate the amount of skill and mastership put into this game.
Allot have even been fooled into some twisted grasp of quality with cheap marketing tricks like Blizzard is using them nonstop.
ANets offer of an highquality RPG environment will go far over the shallow masses heads.
