Looks nice. That's a huge improvement over the old system for sure.

Now they should get rid of the "Maintenance fee" for housing. ROM gives it to you with no per month fee, LOTRO makes you pay for it AND pay a maintenance fee.

One thing is for sure: LOTRO's housing vision needs an overhaul. It is completely under-used and under-developed.

Codemasters have completely mismanaged the move to F2P in Europe, and it will probably cost them many possible revenues, as at this rate the game will re-launch in Europe aroudn the time 4 milion players are getting back into WoW with the new expansion launch in December.

I hope Turbine finally give them the axe and take over.

Yah, I got the COG preview event email the other day and thought, 'What a schlep, just release the f2p client finally and let's move on with our lives.' You know? All the previews and events and downloading and farting about with competitions you'd never win anyway, all this b.s.- I already had this hassle jumping ship to the US F2P client. Just F2P it already and let me get back to my established characters please, thanks.

I won't say "no" to free points, but I agree with Neurotic. Especially if I'll have to download yet another huge client when the F2P EU version is live (in addition to the one for the preview event).

The title of this is a of a stretch, I think that armour radiance and legendary items have been neglected for quite a while (upwards of 18 months now) and we are still waiting for the promised updates.....

It's nice they got this done quickly, but it's no coincidence that additional storage is also a real profit center for Turbine, as one of the best selling items. The 2.0 update was obviously rushed and a bit of a botch.

I guess the title should be

Players speak, it will make a lot of money in the Turbine store, so devs deliver:

Just wanted to point this out, your articles are an interesting read Justin and you are obviously a fan on the game, but I want to make sure that people understand there have been a lot more pressing issues for a lot longer than this one. I guess once they start tackling some of the longer term issues, then colour me impressed with the updates.

"I think that armour radiance and legendary items have been neglected for quite a while (upwards of 18 months now) and we are still waiting for the promised updates....."

Errr...what?

There are a ton of new radiance armor sets out now.

LIs have seen at least 4 major changes since release. MAJOR changes, not including the minor tweaks.

The "promised updates" to LIs and to radiance are "new" promises -- things announced within the past 3 months. And one of those "promises" involves scrapping Radiance entirely.

So, not sure what you're talking about, exactly.

Yeah I think you've gone off on a bit of one here, so let's dissect this response a bit. Taking single paragraphs to generate a response doesn't really make a good counter point.

So if there are tons of new radiance armor sets out now, exactly how many are there per class, how many other items added to the game are redundant for raiders because of radiance gating? And the actual issue players were against was the gating offered by the radiance system, not he variety of armor on offer. This is what was overlooked for 18 months. Why is radiance only selectively used for some raids, why does radiance exclude any crafted armor or other world drops or quest items as suitable alternative routes? People are still wearing the radiance stuff from exploiting the Grand Stairs over and over, since MoM, very little has changed.

LI's,these were initially supposed to level with you, until they screwed that up with SoM and you had to start over with a new weapon. What were these major changes to LI's anyway, there have been two MAJOR updates at the very most, the rest was tweaking, you'll have to outline them if you are going to bring them up. At best the system is an unpredictable grind, when it was touted as being so much more.

While you claim these are new promises, that's not the point, you miss it completely, by a country mile. The issue is that players have been petitioning these items on the LOTRO forums for months and months without a response. While these may be new promises, these are very old problems, and players have not received a satisfactory response or change to these ongoing issues for very many months. The 'fixes' offered have been been a band aid.

The fact that Turbine clearly recognizes the problems now means there have been issues all this time. Going back to the initial assertion, the developers have not delivered on these items yet and a little minor tweaking, or ignoring the issues completely, does not mean they are responsive. The vault change is nice, but ongoing serious issues with end game content makes it very hard for me to get excited about changes like this.

So you better outline what you are talking about now?
