Could use less story and more info on the actual gameplay. For a Korean made game, trying to push a game forward by putting out story elements is a little backwards.

So you're complaining about the company that is westernizing the game doing things that are un-Korean? Just cant win can ya. God forbid a Korean designed game have an interesting storyline.

No. I'd just like to know if it's going to be a retarded Korean grind-fest. All we've seen are story mini-snippets, basic class overviews and screenshots of T&A.

Cause for concern, if you ask me. Then again, I'm totally wrong for not having any faith in the MMO market atm, right?

Here's the official site FAQ:

http://www.tera-online.com/about_tera/faq/faq.php

- How Will I level up in Tera?
Our goal is to make every action involved in leveling up organic to the overall story and the individual player and group/guild goals. Quests are the primary method for gaining experience. The pacing of the game and the leveling-up process is something we’re constantly refining through our focus group tests and ongoing beta tests. Our production team is working very closely with the development team in Korea to ensure that the game feels good to Western audiences.

As a side note,(This has nothing to do with Rubi herself) I have noticed Rubi's following is being some of the most pompous people recently. If it's not being produced by ANet, see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Tera is not the only game with less than practical armor and if you can't accept that, then I'm afraid the Fantasy genre is not for you as it has been here for awhile and is most likely not going to change anytime soon.

That's all great, Ivasen. Except NCSoft said the same about Aion, so I'm still taking it with a grain of salt.

Practical armour doesn't bother me. As you may/may not have noticed on another TERA comment, I asked specifically for a boob slider.

Fact of the matter is, a Korean based game is GOING to get flak, and rightly so. Fact of the matter is, a vast majority of MMO's atm are cash-cows with no substance. The genre is in dire need of good games, and until those games come out, I'm going to be critical just like many other people.

What a company says and what a company does are two hugely different things that hold no weight until we see it happening.

I'm not saying that being cautious is a bad thing as I am cautious of the game also.
As Somnicide said, the only way you are going to know is to get your hands on the game.

I do take solace in the fact that Bluehole employed an entirely different company to "Westernize" the game instead of leaving it to a wing that only does PR.
En Masse has to have some kind of control in it for them to be involved. We just don't know how much control.

I've also seen my original comment get taken out of context on this site and spread around that they can modify the very core of the game, I simply said they had to be able to change the game code for a proper westernization process and not just change text.

(Oh and the armor comment was not pointed toward you in particular.)

Ah, lost in translation... or Massively... who knows.

My main worry was coming across as saying "this game will fail". I want this game to be good, because it looks good and I've heard good things.

It's hard being critical on an MMO site, just glad it didn't get taken the wrong way. :)

And the hundreds of gameplay videos you can find on youtube, along with articles on game mechanics and a 100% positive review record from every site after playing/seeing TERA at game conferences. No, I wouldnt call that cause for concern at all. And there is literally no possible way for them to convince you it isnt a korean grindfest short of you playing the beta, and even then you'll have cynics saying that Aion too was fine during the beta.

All you can do is trust the developers and hope that it isnt. And if you dont have enough faith in them or the MMO market to do that, then just have the patience to wait until you can see for yourself.

Feels like a Dungeons and Dragons fanfic or something. En Masse is trying way too hard to turn this into a WRPG. No thanks.

So...is it NOT supposed to be a WRPG? Isnt that the point of Westernization? Isnt effort a good thing?

God you guys are fickle. Please make up your minds.

We want gameplay substance, not useless story!

I'd play an Oriental-focused game if I wanted good story.

@Somnicide

I can't say I'm behind En Masse's idea of 'westernization' 100% for fear that they are taking out the flair and spirit that are part of asian RPGs.

I'm fine with localization, but En Masse's crusade to turn this game into the next LOTR-ripoff is getting a tad tiresome.

Ahh, yes En Masse is trying to hard to make this game appeal to western audiences.

On the next episode on "Complaints that don't make sense" in 2012,...."Meh, this game is too good to be played..next please."
