Man the creepy goldshire children in WoW. Maybe cause I heard about it when it was like 2 in the morning that day and went to check it out. It was the music that was creepy.

The end of the "Where's Tutty?" quest creeped me out.

Also made me kind of hungry too. I guess that's kind of creepy in itself.

The Upside down sinners in WoW really creeped me out, but I think Vanguards Hillsbury Manor during beta took the cake....it's a real shame they toned it down so.

I'd don't play WoW anymore, but mine would have to be this:

When WotLK was released, I was near Icecrown Citadel by myself doing some farming. I had taken vacation that week and the zone was nearly empty because I was slightly ahead of the curve.

All of a sudden, I fell down this hole into a cavern. When I turned the camera, this little boy was standing in this strange cave by himself. It creeped me out. I had not started the Matthias Lehner questline yet, and it was a shock to see that kid in the middle of this evil area.

Deep inside an Olthoi dungeon lair in Asheron's Call was pretty creepy as I recall

First time I came face to face with an Olthoi was freaky. I fell into the pit instead of landing on the ledge ( back when you could still do that ) and about pissed myself. The noise they make just adds to creepiness.

The Lion's Pride Inn on the Moon Guard realm in WoW. The players creeped me out more than an NPC ever could.

EQ2, Estate of Unrest, maybe two years ago. It was late night, so we'd had trouble getting an optimum group together, so we grab a monk as a tank and go. I'm on an illy at the time.

If you haven't played Unrest, it's essentially a haunted house full of puzzles, and the first of these is a hedge maze with two halves of a key hidden within. Also, zombies.

Our tank says that it'll be easy if he FD trains through the maze, so off he goes while we stick by the entrance, picking off passing cucuys for fun.

I don't exactly know what happened afterwards. Maybe he'd gone near the edge of the maze, but a zombie comes out and aggroes on one of us. We burn it down. Another comes out. And another. Within minutes, we're panicking badly, surrounded by hordes of the undead. "Burn it down!" "Got it- Ack, there's one behind me!" "It's mezzed! Crap, more coming!" "Ranger's down!"

Fantasy survival horror. Epic.

The music (or noises) in LOTRO's Angmar zone is creepy.

WOW's Eastern Plaguelands creeped me out the first time I went through that zone.

Fanatical Eve players are kinda creepy.

The noises from EQ2's Estate of Unrest. You hear a woman scream "stop" and knocking, creaking, "Pop! Goes the Weasel" being played, etc.

Also there's a screamer in there if you open the meat locker.

Nek Castle from the same game has a heartbeat sound that gets louder as you go into the basement. It actually made me feel ill.

Original EverQuest's Estate of Unrest was pretty creepy - that MMO also had plenty of situations where I feared for my character's well-being, such as getting lost in one of the Karanas at night - but I've never been creeped out by any MMO I've played since 2002. Certainly nothing as creepy as I get from some multiplayer co-op games, like last night when my friend and I were creeping through a cornfield in Left4Dead, with the sound of Witches sobbing like little girls all around us, and zombies suddenly appearing in front of us to rip our faces off.

Players sometimes creep me out though - such as when I'm using Pocket D as a short cut in City of Heroes and hear what some of the catgirls and furries are saying to each other /shudder

Most of Paragon City, in City of Heroes, creeps me out. The Albert Speer architecture and the monumental superhero statues make the whole city look like it would look if the Nazis had won World War II, a very disturbing fascist vibe that is (to tell the truth) very appropriate to a game about barely-supervised vigilante superheroes imposing their own justice on the lesser beings.

It's why I played very dark heroes until City of Villains came out, and then switched to villains as fast as I could; even the Rogue Isles looks less creepy than Paragon City. If Paragon City is what America looks like with super "heroes," call me a villain, because I'm against it.

It wasn't scary, but it was utterly repulsive and made me want to lose my lunch: Princess Theradras from Maraudon.

Seriously, Shockwave-causing Thunder-farts. Grotesque.

DON'T OPEN IT DON'T OPEN IT DON'T OPEN IT

*that thing spiders do when they're aggressive and rear up to point their front legs at you* BROWN RECLUSE TAKING UP ALL 15.4" OF SCREEN SPACE.

*the rest is not even suitable for sailors*

I'm arachnophobic. Seriously it sounds stupid and i have been playing games for like 2 decades, I have slain countless spiders and its never bothered me before...

That being said, Fallen Earth spiders bother me...badly. I tried to played through the spider hill area mostly looking at my bag inventory while pressing buttons trying to to pay attention to the character models, really really terrible mmo experience. I would rather raid molten core for a month straight than do the spider hill quest line. I canceled my sub shortly after. I'm not proud of it but there it is.
