Gamebreaker.tv recently sat down with CCP's Nathan Richardsson at GDCO for a lengthy video interview about EVE Online, Dust 514, and World of Darkness. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the EVE discussion focuses on the new character generator, recently made live on the Singularity test server and representing the first step towards 2011's long-awaited Incarna expansion.
Richardsson doesn't have a lot to say regarding Dust 514, even though he talks about it for several minutes. The gist of the conversation is that CCP will release it when it's ready, and they're not even close to being prepared to talk about it. He does reiterate the game's console focus, stating that "our goal is delivering the EVE experience on different platforms, console being one of them of course. We'll be looking at more platforms, we already are."
Moving on to the recently announced World of Darkness, Richardsson again declines to answer most of the pressing questions, though he does drop an interesting nugget relating to control of the game's intellectual property. Turns out that CCP's plans for a WoD virtual world required a certain level of control over the IP that wasn't possible with it residing in the hands of another company, hence the acquisition of WoD parent company White Wolf.
Check out the full 30-minute interview after the cut and on Gamebreaker.

I would love that a decent company chock full of money would buy Games Workshop to do what CCP did with Vampire: The Masquerade only with the WH and WH40K franchises.
Maybe then we would have awesome Warhammer games instead of crappy WAR and a WH40k MMO that is trying to be a WoW clone.

Well, jackass if you actually bothered to know the posters history you would know that I actually think quite the opposite of that. But then a game developer makes a game about WH40K where the Impreium of Man cooperates with Xenos to force a two faction system that makes it for me really close to WoW.

lol @ people who speculate and conjecture,CCP hasnt done anything yet but buy the parent company so they would have control to change things,so right know you dont know if WOD is not going to be a wow clone either, the guy being interviewed mentioned warcrafts theme park experienced being merged with sandbox/pvp elements and a social element.

Well I am bummed that they are ignoring the fact that the PC gamers want Dust 514 on the PC in addition to the console market. Oh wait nevermind- emmmuulllaatorr!

Vatrak you do realize that in most every shooter out has pc versions and that they dont pit pc vs consoles, so I see no reason why there couldnt be a pc version for dust either.

Also: You need to have Xbox Live/PSN to play online, and that's not even feasible on emaulation. Good luck with that. :(

Most of us EVE players don't really care about the "long-awaited Incarna expansion". We would much prefer for CCP to fix the major lag issues and maybe even fix the whole of the low sec experience.
I'm lagged out as I type this comment.... thanks CCP.

Guys, all kidding aside about the emulator that doesn't work for the PS3. I am very aware how the keyboard and mouse have a huge advantage over the console controller such as UT III and agree with you. However, there are devices for the PS3 such as the frag that incorporates a mouse with the controller. I have used it in Kill zone and other FPS games on my PS3. But to me it really boils down to skills in a FPS whether you have a mouse or a controller. The superior player in FPS will always win in FPS terms. As a fan boy of CCP, sadly I think CCP is making a mistake to shun the PC community which has more proven loyalty since Eve is the bread and butter to boot. Now, the engine for Dust 514 is the Unreal III Engine which is why we sadly wont be seeing any avatars walking together between Dust 514 and Eve. Want to use the same tools as the Dust 514 devs are using? You can at this very link because the tools are free now. So you can make your mod for the console or PC. Or for both with this tools that the DUst 514 devs use. It is that easy. So why has CCP chosen consoles only when they don't have to with these very tools I provided the link for that are free for non commercial use. Well we all know the reason. $$$$$ Lesson number one- PC's games are not dead. Lesson number 2, dont blow off your foundation for customers. I know I have a losing argument here and either way I would prefer to play Dust 514 on a PC than a console. NO offense guys.

The problem is that Dust battles will have an effect on Eve's political geography, and since Eve uses a single shard it wouldn't be possible to segregate PC dusties from the console ones.

I am pretty sure that all the dust battles are not going to be in the "actual Eve game world" but from what I gathered from one of the interviews about it a connection of info between the eve world and the instanced dust battleground, so it wouldnt matter that Eve was a single shard the fight for one planet could be all console while they could have a different planet rely on the pc fighters etc.Are 360 players going to be playing with PS3 players? Also I just read that CCP bought the trademark for the pc as well as consoles so even if Dust just releases console only it still might be seen on the pc,probably depending on the attention span of a consoler and how long they keep playing it or trade it in at gamestop for the next big shooter.
