I was going to go, but with a vacation planned for the end of the month i didn't want to be tempted into spending my vacation money early.

I don't do the gaming cons, but I'm a regular at several literary science fiction conventions. Archon (St.Louis) was just last weekend, and Windycon (Chicago) is only a couple of weeks away.

I'm not even tempted by cons as I dislike large crowds and too much noise (I only really suffer them for football matches) - so it probably helps that no cons will ever be staged near my home, as I have to fly or take a ferry if I want to go more than 10 miles away (I live on an island and it usually takes me 2 flights or a flight+train or ferry+driving to get anywhere near any European capital).

In the case of gaming cons, ironically I'd rather be at home and gaming online than at a con meeting gamers.

I did attend NYCC this weekend, but that'll be my only con of the year. I did get into a couple of the game panels: the CoX one and the "future of gaming" panel with Curt Schilling. The Guild Wars 2 panel was so packed that they were only letting small groups of people into the room when an equal number came out.
